  • Today's video is about installing the hidden winch carrier on the Nissan Frontier. There were some setbacks, but I think everything turned out great. Below are the links to the winch carrier as well as the Smittybilt winch.

I am in the process of fabricating my own winch carrier with a Harbor Freight winch plate. We need more Xterra/Frontier stuff for people. Will upload. Appreciate your time.

I totally agree with you I've been so upset with the lack of aftermarket support for Nissan it's really sad.

I just installed mine on a 2010 Xterra, easy setup. Thankfully I didn’t run into any of the issues you experienced. The real challenge has been cutting the plastic bumper and grill. I agree about the paint, I should have had it powder coated.

Thanks for sharing your struggles. It’s nice to see a real video on here. Nothing works the way it’s advertised. There is always some adjustment needed 😎

Wow! That looked like a frustrating install! But it looks awesome!!!

They didn't use to be problematic installs, but the move to AZ really changed their attention to detail. I have two WAM winch carriers installed on my Nissans (one WAM from GA? and one WAM from AZ) the AZ WAM is proving to be far less "bolt-on". Too bad too, I like the product. Yet, I keep hearing negative (AZ WAM) when I used to hear only positive (GA? WAM).

I really enjoyed your video so thank you for creating it for D40 Frontier owners. I laughed at your raw responses and felt your pain. Sounds just like me with some of my install experiences. Glad you got things buttoned up in the end. props to you for surviving the experience ! p.s. given the cost of the headlights consider having a clear applique applied like 3M, Lami-X or such

Great looking and performing truck for sure! I’ve got 2 Xterra’s with same powerful 4.0 VQ4DE. Over 600,000 miles between the two. Have you noticed any kind of a whine from your upper timing chain guides? They may need service. Engine keeps rocking. Keep the oil clean and topped of with synthetic. Best wishes.

No whine, but my truck since 2018 has only gotten 24,000 miles. I have a company car so it doesn’t get much love. It had developed a squeak from one of the pulleys, though.

I just subscribed :) You might find this funny, I sure did. I started watching your refrigerator mod on the E-pro because I just bought an E-pro 16bh. Then I see you have a Frontier, I have a 2021 gray Frontier SV with a black grill that I added on, lol. I have a few mod videos for the camper coming out when the weather gets better. Did you sell the E-pro or do you still have it?

Hi Rick, thanks for the sub! We did sell the E-pro. Be sure to check out our latest videos on the new Mission Overland!

Sorry you loose crash protection because of the bumper is small

They do offer extended crash bars for this winch mount, I just didn't order it that way to save weight.

Man, an impact gun would help sooo much. A lot faster and it does all the straining for you. Not so exhausting.
