Martin Luther King Jr. Assassination recalled by Taxi Driver witness

  • Leon Bibb reports:
He has never told the story that resonates in him as loud as the gunshot he heard when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in Memphis April 4, 1968.
Especially on Martin Luther King Day and on the anniversary of his death, Bishop J. Delano Ellis of the Pentacostal Church of Christ in Cleveland, Ohio, reflects on what he saw as he waited for the civil rights leader to come to Ellis' car for the drive to a restaurant.
In 1968, Bishop Ellis was the pastor of a very small congregation in Memphis. To add to his meager income from the church, he drove a taxi cab for the Friendly Cab Company, a taxi service that served the black community of Memphis.
He was the cab driver who pulled up to the Lorraine Motel to drive Martin Luther King to dinner at a popular restaurant in the black community.
    More at WEWS
    www.newsnet5.com/news/local-ne...
"I remember his foot was coming through the rail," said Ellis, who then realized King had been shot.
Perhaps most shocking of all is Ellis's report that the police on the scene beat him and others.
"It couldn't have been much time, but the police were all over the place," said Ellis.
Still in the parking lot, Ellis didn't know what to do. Then he was assaulted, he said.
"It was the police beating me," he said.
When asked if he meant "roughing you up," he responded quickly.
"When I said they beat me, I mean they beat me," said Ellis without hesitation. "They whipped me."

He was probably already disgusted while he was living. It’s no worse now than it was then. None of these other civil right leaders who were there and currently living seem to have much shock over today’s state of affairs.

Pg-13 Gaming Dr King was not called to politics. He made it perfectly clear, he would never run for any political office. God called Se King to do precisely what he did. When his mission was over, God called him home. The government was found guilty in a court of law, for the conspiracy to assassinate Dr King. James Earl Ray did not murder Dr King!

    • @babaduke3298
      @babaduke3298 Před 5 lety +5

THINK... How secure could he have been ,standing on an open balcony... Broad of day... With alleged people below him and people taking EYE Conic pictures before ,during and after the event? This was a show. 3 people who should be attending to "king" after being shot... Are captured pointing at the same exact moment a cameraman snaps a picture?
-Common Sense is no longer a virtuous thing; when logic becomes worthless.
And PS. Allegedly, the owner, or the owners brother of the hotel, cleaned up the crime scene...with a mop, a broom and a mason jar. After the alleged jFK assassination, they probably took the vehicle ,to the nearest car wash. Get a grip... History is a stage show...most of it is a lie.
      -sorry.
