You want to enter flat footed because if you're not completely perfectly vertical and you point your toes, the force of hitting the water will break your toes. You definitely do not have more control over your entry and your body underwater though. In fact, experienced platform divers will point their toes on dives they're experienced in, but it's not recommended for anyone trying it out for the first time. Even divers used to lower heights.

I remember the first time my friend and I decided to jump 10 m, she told me to go first, I jumped... and I've been waiting 7 years for her to jump after me 😂 to her credit, she did jump the 7,5 m with me after that
Once after workout our swim coach told the team we had to jump off the 10 meter platform before we left. The platform is 10 meters but add the distance to your eyes so it looks higher. When you leave the platform it takes forever to hit the water. Water goes up your nose and your bathing suit goes up to your mouth. Divers are nuts.
Damn, 10 meters is actually dangerous for real if you don't know what you're doing. My local pool had a 10m platform that used to be open to the public, but nowadays it's closed due to there having been a lot of accidents. I know of a man who became deaf from jumping from the platform
You should watch Tom Daley’s video when he climbed up to the 20 meter platform…and back down again. Everyone has their limits. Kudos to you for “taking the plunge!” 😁

My sister did diving in college and holy hell that stuff is impressive and terrifying. She would do flips off the 10 meter like it was nothing.
