    absolutely the way to go. we paid a land clearing company to mulch 9 acres. super dense with trees and brush. they hit it with a rayco c260 over 4 days. beautiful results

      Has nothing to do with State Policies. Most of the land that burns is Federal Land. It's Federal Policies.

    This is what the west coast of the U.S. should be doing to help reduce the forest fire issues. Maintaining the forest reduces the chance for deadly Forest fires.

    Late last fall I had a long neglected (40+ years) garden spot reclaimed this way. I have the equipment and possibly the skills to have done it myself. But at 75 it was the best $500 I’ve spent in awhile. I truly had a mess due to my neglect, and in 3 hours the operator did more and better than I could have in several days. I don’t have stumps to deal with and chisel point will pull up any roots. About 11/2-2 acres of river flats! Snow is gone, time to play with my tractors.

    This is what loggers need to use after clearing out forests. My Pop’s had our woods logged and what a mess it still is after 5-6 years. So ugly in the winter when you can see it here in western PA. farmer rod

      that's why folks tend to spray and replant around here....however you simply can't use this as a viable solution to cleaning up after a logging crew...grinding very large stumps isn't cost effective at all

    Out west they do proscribed burns to do much the same thing. I like this better.

      we do prescribed burns here in NC also....however this is very very different and accomplishing a very different goal

      This is clearing land. Burning off can be part of the clearing land process, burning the forest trash before clearing it. However most burning off nowadays is not to clear land but to reduce the fuel for forest fires.

    Looks beautiful Josh. I wish all loggers had to clean up their tops and stumps. I cleaned up a small area by hand hard work, but very pretty now. Hopefully I can get it fenced in for my small herd.

    After much research into mulching, I am Wanting to do this on my place. It is expensive though but well worth it. For my soil type I think it would be great. There is about 30 acres to do so might have to do over time. Looks great.

      depends on where you live and the capabilities and cost of the machines....Cody's typical charge in this economy around here is around $1600 per 8 hour day...but we also have to take into account his costs for hauling, truck, trailer, fuel and time for the estimate. This kinda work can be tough on a machine for sure....so he's earning it lol!

      Black Gum, Sweet Gum, Poplar and Pine mostly along with some multifloura rose and privet...the long tall really straight one's are mostly poplars

      why would the trees die because the cows are walking through the woods? I'm sorry...maybe I dont' understand what on earth you're talking about. The cows won't hurt the trees buddy

    I did not notice markings to indicate which trees to keep.
    Was there a plan for this or just trusting Cody to recognize the trees of value so you could use them later for timber?
    Also, I think it would be fun to keep a tally of stuck and destroyed drones. The first one I remember was a hog butchering video from several years back. It was the first Stoney Ridge Farmer video I ever watched.

    Do you plan on removing the stumps left behind from the mulching? I just had over a mile trail mulched on my property and don’t know the best way to go about getting all the stumps out.

      the whole reason for mulching is so ya don't have to mess with the stumps...just mow it...if you're gonna mulch...then ya don't need to stump..if you're gonna stump..then ya don't need to mulch ...give them a few years and they'll rot

    if i want to make a deer food plot , should i remove the mulch? otherwise the seed wont germinate right?

      let the mulch rot buddy...plant in a few years....make a deer food plot in a field first...then on the forest floor. Either way you'll have to put some soil amendments in place. Radishes will grow in this though

      Cleaning out and clearing this area will provide awesome forage for deer and other animals....I'm not clearing brush out for wildlife...I'm clearing out brush for forest life and grazing my friend

    4 days of mulching was approx how many acres?

      He worked around 20 hours.....so in all it was about 2.5 total 8 hour days...cleared about 4 acres...but if this were simply brush..he'd get about 2-4 acres perday done

    Do you think cedars will still compost? I have a patch in my woods (roughly 1/2 an acre) that I'm gonna cut down and make fence posts out of. I'd like to come in with a mulcher and grind down the stumps so that grass and orbs can grow on the newly cleared area. But I was told cedar mulch needs to be removed in order for that to happen. Any thoughts? Thanks for the video, and keep em coming

      can't till because there are stumps at ground level...no need to till....the mulch will rot over the next few years and provide a nice layer of soil

    Hey Josh thank you for the video I enjoy it but I'm sorry man I got to disagree I hate cutting down trees I think they would have grew up and been big trees but you do what you want to do with your property now are you going to go back through there with that machine that you put on your tractor and spread out the cow pies just this time spread out the wood chips

      you havn't seen my replanting vids have ya.....now....remember...we are not bringing down forests here...and if not kept up this will grow right back up into trees and brush....this is forest managment...spacing our trees for optimal growth and ridding the forest of undesirable timber, brush and weeds such as multiflora rose

      Check out "home between the oaks" on CZcams they have a video named "why we planted 2120 trees on our property" in the middle of that video they show an interesting tractor attachment for planting trees quickly
