I'm from Jackson Ohio and I remember JUST THAT! I'm subscribed to the show but I just happened to see that my attention now so it started thinking about when I was in school and all the boys used to have that haircut I didn't realize the boy was from Ohio too.... LoL
It was very very popular every single boy had that haircut when I was in 6th grade which I think was like 15 years ago now. All the popular boys really did have their haircut like that it was a little ridiculous

The guy in the middle had the same haircut as nearly all the sixth grade boys in my class (circa 2001 - 2002) but the boy's in my school would get the bangs bleached and it was considered to look the best if their natural hair color was dark so that when it grew in a bit they would have a dark buzz with the shock of white (or more often piss yellow) up front.

when I attended school in the UK, the pop group Bros came out with their new hair style which of course boys wanted to copy, but the school boards were really strict about hair styles and suspended boys who turned up with their hair cuts. Then when I'd finished my 4th year and popped into school to collect my certificates I was astounded at the range of hair styles. Shows that times do change.
