      Thanks, Mum! I only started enjoying more dewy foundations in the past year or two. I was very anti-shine (lots of matte foundation reviews in my early days on CZcams!!) I still love a good matte :) especially for a full face of makeup. Here's my foundation master list if you haven't seen it yet. At the top right corner of the spreadsheet, you can search "matte" and it'll show only the matte foundations. Or try searching "natural" - that's what I'd describe as in between matte and dewy. They are fairly consistent though not identical - that is to say, I'm usually F3 in them, and F3 works for me in all of them (even if they're a smidge different side by side). The undertones are consistent which is what seems most important, with slight variations in lightness to darkness.

    Thank you for this video Shelly. Both of the foundations look lovely on you 🌞
    This week I finally found the right foundation for my 40+ dry skin in the EL hydra foundation. However, I'll "pale out" of their shade range when my light tan fades come September's end. As Revolution go lighter in their shade range, it's fab to have you confirm their product is a dupe 🥰 x

    Upon application I think the EL side is a better skin tone match and looks a bit smoother up close. Your whole look is smooth and dewy, very nice. :-) That eyeshadow palette screams Autumn! Right up my alley as well. :D

  • @lorainemcgillivray77

    Hi Shelley this was a great idea for a video. EL does not have a shade pale enough for my very white self whereas the shade 0.5 in Revolution is a really good shade match (at least in the conceal and hydrate foundation). Surprisingly the shade 0.5 is paler than the 0.1 so be careful folks if ordering online, as there can be a bit of variation re true shades and their description. I made this mistake and want to warn others. It wasn't until I saw swatches on a different channel of all the pale shades that I was able to reorder the 0.5 and get a good match. I had been feeling a bit of FOMO re the EL as it looked great on so many of the youtubers I watch and I couldn't try it. I'll nip down to Superdrug tomorrow and pick up the cc cream from Revolution to try though. Many thanks and best wishes.

    Yay! I've been buying bits from revolution over the past few months. Recently got their lift and luminate (I think) concealer but my bad - wrong shade. However - I still tried it. V impressed. So today I ordered another in the right shade - or if it's too dark I'll mix both! I got gifted their bunny palettes for Easter from my kids and then went back myself for other things. Not crazy about the pigmentation in the bunny palettes though but could be user error - I am hopeless at eyeshadow but still practicing!! Loved your look today girl. Congrats on the 20k

      You'd think that with over 200 foundations I'd be able to shade match myself expertly... but it's always a struggle! I tend to rely on a few shades that I know work for me, then I use the Sephora shade finder tool or Findation.com to see what they recommend for the one I'm looking at. Then I look at those swatches online and make my best guess. (Sometimes the shade finders are way off, but I can usually at least figure out how they seem to be naming things that way).

Absolutely LOVE the eyeshadow (I have hazel/green eyes and I love the pink/purple/grey pallets) I bought my first kabuki brush the other day (after using makeup egg sponges) thanks to one of your videos on foundation - gonna look for that makeup butterfly thingie (or something like it) I'm still relatively new to wearing makeup (even at 56yo!) - hardcore geekette who worked remote for years prior to covid so there was no need to wear it (except when I was performing with my barbershop chorus) Now I'm on Zoom for work a couple times a day.. every day. I'm loving your makeup tips - I need to try a cc foundation! Do you know if there are any "charts/graphics" that teach us how to apply eye shadow the way you did? it's stunning. Hi Shelley, I watched this the other day & enjoyed it so watching again now. I was thinking about your Painterly Pot situation. I have some MAC paint pots & have never thought any of them were very "supple", as you say, in fact a bit dry, from Day 1!!.
    So anyway a question came into my mind & had U been here I would have asked U. Since you weren't, I asked Google instead. My queston was "Does Painterly need to be set with powder like other similar products?" (And how to restore Painterly to a better consistency)
    So Google told me to dip a small flat brush into water, tap excess off on my arm, then use wet brush to pick up some Painterly. & how to swipe it this way and that on nny eyelid, to assure a smooth application.
    Well it worked, and I discovered what other ppl must experience with MAC Paint Pots, when they are new!!
    Google advised I use a small flat brush, and I had small, not flat, but it worked pretty well anyway, to both apply the Painterly, and set with powder afterward. And the eyeshadow did very well over that.
    Do you always put powder on top of the Painterly? (Or a matte eyeshadow)
    I was mostly happy that I could make a MAC Paint Pot creamier in consistency, thanks to dipping the brush in water and then into the paint so just thought I would pass that on so it might help you with the rest of what remains in your Painterly pot. Likely you already had a remedy for this.😄😎

    • @goow
      @goow  Před 3 lety

      I hadn't even thought of trying anything on the rest of my paint pot, so this will be a great experiment! Another comment suggested mixing it up to get the bottom product (probably with more moisture left in it) up to the top. So I'm going to try that too! I don't always set it. Sometimes I go straight in with my crease/transition shade (which is always matte, so I suppose that could be considered setting it). I used to always set with a flesh-toned shadow first (like Wet n Wild Creme Brulee) but I've gotten out of that habit and haven't noticed a difference.
