Worked great! My video file went from 4.37Gb to 544mb with only a small loss of sound and screen size - I did have to use the 'no sound' tip by Marc to click on that little wrench icon, going to audio codecs then selecting MPEG-4 AAC...fixed the issue perfectly - many thanks to Gizbot and Marc!!

@@kalaivananmanoharan4062 i guess your VLC has a black screen but slowly (depending on your computer power ) its rendering..for my old laptop. 4gb ram i3 it takes 30 to 45 minutes to convert from 5gb to 0.7
How long converter take time with such big size?

For who's having a problem of no sound, choose the MPEG-4 (AAC) or update your VLC + I compressed the video 30mb into 10mb!

@@77cahansen Click the Settings button (it looks like a wrench and a screwdriver) to the right of the Profile dropdown, then select the Audio codec tab and the Codec dropdown choose "MPEG 4 Audio (AAC)" this will give you the result with the audio.
who compresses a 30mb file? thats just a waste of time.

Wauw, using VlC for about 10 years and never noticed it can compress my video files lol..

Followed the procedure; a webinar of 400,000 kB was reduced to one tenth its size. However, I lost the video! I rechecked the settings; CZcams HD, under encapsulation - MOV/MP4; video - H264; Audio MP3. Bit rate also the same as in the video. Where am I going wrong? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
After converting\compressing to .mp4 - the video has 8 seconds delay (black screen), and then plays normally.. Sound plays normal from the beginning..
*In other windows player video and sound plays normally from the beginning, only when played with VLC..
Some thoughts?

I have VLC on Mac and the program doesn’t have a Media menu, it has File. Under File is “Convert/stream”, and it doesn’t have all those profile options like video for iPod or video for CZcams. I leave it on the first profile, “H.264 + MP3 (MP4)” and click save, but it doesn’t process the whole it just saves a brief clip of it.
Using this method I managed to convert a 1.3GB file into a 1.9GB file :/
Ya this shit doesnt work at all. If it does actually manage to make the file size smaller it will jump around forwards and backwards randomly, basically unplayable.

When you download the TEACHPRO computer training course, a Windows videocompression not installed message is displayed. Maybe you know what there is not enough driver or what needs to be fixed in the computer, so that the training video course gets scared ??

Help! I have VLC 3.0.8 (mac) and it does not look like this- I followed File> Convert/ Stream> added media but the convert buttons lead to options I don't understand, not obvious resizing options, seems to be file type. Anyone? Pleeeease?

you chose the format not the size. So you need to have an idea of the characteristics of each format before you choose to compress. Of course, most people will be satisfied with any mp4

im gonna try this . its gonna be a relief if it actually works lots of people use handbreak but i cant cuz i dont have .net framework 4.8 and i cant install it cuz im on windows 7 and windows 7 is not supported anymore so i cant install , the only way i cant get .net framework to be in windows 7 is to upgrade to windows 10 / 8.1 and install framework and then downgrade back to windows 7
