dunno the zombies made decent progress against these troops, obviously there were just a few but if there really was a swarm of say tens of thousands of zombies they could easily overwhelm some military units just by being hard to all kill in time. Also they wouldn't be running down one single road unless they were lured in, assuming they're just like feral 28 weeks later style they would be split apart and coming from multiple direcftions making it more difficult to hit them
