    I was about to start my 5th diamond painting (yes I am late to the party!!) and I was thinking how it should be easier than sticking your fingers in the sticky stuff!!! I was also thinking parchment but didn't have any left to try it so I left that idea aside. Coincidently, hubby was at the store and bought some (he does all the cooking...) so now I can steel some from him and try it out!!! Thanks for the great idea and demonstration that works!

    I am a major parchment paper fan. I also bake a lot so have the Costco Kirkland paper on hand. I just make large pieces like you did, and stick them down whole to the canvas. I use regular Scotch tape to stick the overlapping parts of the two long strips together. I use scissors to cut it down to fit around the glue part of the canvas. Then I use a paper scorer (found at any craft score) and a ruler to cut out an approximately 4in x 4in section to work on. I like to work top to bottom, right to left. I tried making squares of parchment paper like you did, but found I had a lot of problems with the paper bending and pulling off when working with it. That’s why I switched to just leaving it in large sheets and scoring off the section I want to work on. Great video! Thank you!

      Thank you for watching. I have made a few changes and now use two large sheets depending on the size of the painting. I also found out that when placing the smaller squares, sometimes the paper does not want to pull up and than you're having to pick paper off the drill field with tweezers. Doesn't happen all the time but when it does, it's a pain.

    • @mollymollie6048
      @mollymollie6048 Před 4 lety

      Ugh, that’s not fun. I wonder if too much air gets to the glue when the parchment is in smaller sections and dries up with the paper attached to it...

      What I do now is decide how big I want my section. Let’s say 10x10 sections. I take the parchment paper and trace out 10x10 sections and cut these sections out. What I don’t use is storages. I also cut out 12x12 and 12x10 sections and storage them just in case.
      Do your sections that you are comfortable with. That is the key. 💖💖💖

    When you finish a section on the diamond paper on the canvas, can you still put the parchment the paper on top of it with the diamonds you you know that part that you did? Can you still put it on there? And also if you can still roll up the paper to put it away in that way you know when you have time to do it all over again

    • @diamondpaintingreviewsbyje2710
      @diamondpaintingreviewsbyje2710  Před 6 měsíci

      Yes, you can replace and reuse the parchment paper strips when working on your painting. When drills are down, it’s not so easy to keep the paper down but I always put my trays on top of the paper to keep it in place. I store my parchment paper strips and use them at least 4 times. Once they become more difficult to lift up from the drill area, it is time to throw them away.

      Yes, you can cut the protective sheet around the area that is completed; however, make sure the protected sheet remains over the sections that have not been completed. I do this all the time when I don’t use parchment paper.

    • @diamondpaintingreviewsbyje2710
      @diamondpaintingreviewsbyje2710  Před 4 lety +3

      Hello Claudette, Parchment paper can come in one sided non stick or both sides non stick. If you want to use parchment paper, you need to purchase the double sided non stick. If you are unable to find double sided, you can still use the one sided; however, you will need to know which side is non stick. The best way to do this is to take a small area on your canvas and place a small amount of the parchment paper down. If it easily comes off the canvas, you know it's the non stick side. If it is difficult, you will know that it's the wrong side. When doing this test, pull up gently and slowly. If it's the wrong side and sticks to your canvas, gently pull it off with your tweezers. I hope this helps :)

    Can you do this to double sided adhesive? The white cover?

    • @diamondpaintingreviewsbyje2710
      @diamondpaintingreviewsbyje2710  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes. Parchment paper works wonderfully when working on double sided adhesive. For me, I don't like having to do a project and not see the drill area. I always remove the paper protective covers and customize my parchment squares. It really works out great. Just remember to purchase double sided non stick parchment paper. If your not sure if it's non stick on both sides, do a test on a small area before placing the strips. You can take a small corner on the parchment paper and place it down on the adhesive, pull up gently....then repeat with the other side. This will give you peace of mind. Once you do that and know for sure, place your strips down and your ready to go 😁. 💖❤️

    If you have parchment paper that has a rough side and a smooth side, which side should be facing upwards?

    • @diamondpaintingreviewsbyje2710
      @diamondpaintingreviewsbyje2710  Před rokem

      I would think the smooth side would be the side for the glue and the rough side upward; however, I would recommend doing a small test sight to see which side is the release side. Test a very small area close to the border. Test the smooth side first and than the rough side. Make sure the area your testing is small. If either side releases, all good. This test will tell you which side is safe to use.

    I want to do this to my next project, but I heard you can't let the parchment paper stay on long or it will ruin the canvas. Is this true? The project is 80x100.

    • @diamondpaintingreviewsbyje2710
      @diamondpaintingreviewsbyje2710  Před 3 lety +2

      I have had parchment paper on canvas a year old and never had any issue with poured glue but double sided I have. If it's poured glue, it's okay but I also recommend that if your doing a large painting and want to use Parchment paper, section it off in 4 to 8 section. Only put the parchment paper in the sections you know you will get to relatively soon. Leave the remaining areas with the original protective sheet. When your done with the section you had Parchment paper down, you can decide if you want to take a break from the Painting or put parchment paper down in the remaining sections. Hope this helps ❤️💕

      You will need to take a small piece of the paper and place it on a small patch of the glue,. If it releases easily, you are safe but if it is difficult to lift, don't use that side. This is the best way to find out if you are able to use one side only or both.

      It sounds to me you have a few issues going on. You should try the Parchment Paper but from what I understand from what your message reads, is that you are having issues with the glue and possibly the drills.
      If your glue is not tacky, you can pick up some Tack It which is a glue similar to poured glue. Follow the directions and it should help with the tackiness.
      If your drill continue to fall off, you may have popping drills and there is nothing you can do about that other than going to the store you purchased the painting and ask for new drill or a refund.
      I hope this helps and wish you the best💖

      Depending on where you live, you can find parchment paper at your dollar store or any grocery store. If it states it non-stick both sides, that is the one to get. I get my parchment paper at Canadian tire and never had issues with it. But as I said before, do a test with the paper. Place it on a small area to make sure it does not stick and test both sides.
      I purchased Betty Crocker parchment paper and it was non-stick too.

    The border of the diamond painting is sticky with the adhesive. How do I remove it

    • @diamondpaintingreviewsbyje2710
      @diamondpaintingreviewsbyje2710  Před 3 lety

      Best and safest way is washi tape. Washi tape will cover that area as well as keeping anything from sticking to and around the edges of your painting. You can get washi tape at any craft store and sometimes at the dollar store.
      You can also use baby powder. You will have to be careful when using baby powder so you do get it on the drill area. What I do is put the baby powder in a small container. Using your finger tip (index finger), dip your finger tip in the powder and work the powder in the sticky parts moving as close to the boarder as possible. Start were you can't feel the stickyness and move up toward the boarder line.
      Hope this helps and let me know how it works out for you ❤️💓
