    Hospitals in the uk will not do a normal mri scan if a pacemaker is fitted no matter whether its new or old. Special precautions have to be taken before, during & after an mri in such cases.

    Thank you for sharing this video. I want to ask, will a simple at home pulse oximeter provide a accurate heart rate after receiving a pacemaker? Will it be possible it can still show a heart rate under 60bpm? Thank you Dr.

      Yes please. Are you or did you have excessive pain. I'm 4 weeks post implantation of a pacemaker. I'm in so much pain still. Yes the bruising has subsided, but not the pain. How many other people have this problem ❤

    I live in Australia and I just had my Boston scientific pacemaker replaced after ten years of hassle free service. The new one is a Boston scientific with a bedside monitoring device that can send information back to my cardiologist. But they are not sure if the old leads that were reused are MRI compatible.

    • @shikhasoni5518
      @shikhasoni5518 Před 10 měsíci

      How was life going with pacemaker? Can u do everything normally having that? And after replacement how's it?

    • @geoffmower8729
      @geoffmower8729 Před 10 měsíci

      @@shikhasoni5518 Hi my new American scientific pacemaker is excellent I went in to the cardiologist for a check up and he adjusted it through the WIFI on his computer. T he old one lasted 10 years and the new ones battery is guaranteed for 15 years and it came with a bed side monitoring unit that periodically receives information from the pacemaker when I sleep and sends it back to the cardiologist witch means less check ups. And if anything go's wrong with the pacemaker the DR will know before I do. I can do everything like normal but if I am required to go through an airport metal detector I just tell them I have a pacemaker and they take me to the side and pat me down to make sure I have no weapons on me. The pacemaker and leads are MRI compatible if I ever have to have one.

    I have a slow heart rate and have been wearing a pacemaker for 2 years. The doctor set my heart rate at 50-130. Can we exercise and play football? And is there a chance that the lead wire is loose or not? And when we exercise more than the specified at 130 will it have any effect on the machine?
    thank you.

    “I recently came across a study titled ‘A Randomized Trial of Lenient Versus Strict Arm Instruction Post Cardiac Device Surgery (LENIENT)’. This single-center, non-blinded, randomized prospective study aims to compare lenient and restrictive post-operative care instructions for patients who have undergone surgery involving cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIED). The researchers hypothesize that there will be no significant difference in the rate of complications between the two sets of instructions. I’m curious about your thoughts on this matter. Thank you in advance.”
