  • Hello loves! Ive had this kit for a good 3 years and finally sent out to get my results. Things like this are so interesting to me and I was so excited to find out my history and where my ancestors come from. The process of sending out my DNA with ancestry was super easy and I got my results back in less than a month.

Humanity expanded out of Africa and that's either the north going into Europe or the Mid East or they people left from various islands south of the Sahara. it's because Puerto Rico was one of the last colonies that Spain owned in the new world, so they decided to make it a province of Spain by the early 1800s. Spain needed to bring in more people to the island to develop it, so they passed a law that anybody that was a catholic that moved to Puerto Rico would get free land. Thats why you see a lot of European dna because of huge migrations from Spain, France, Irish and especially the Canary Islands. I'm Puerto Rican born and raised there, and my DNA is 70% European mostly Spain but some Italian and French/ 13% sub saharan / 10% taino / 5% north african / 2% chinese

      @SimpleMinded221 Před rokem

      North africans are originally a mix of a back migration of eurasians and indigenous east africans later on 1/3) west african up to 15000 years ago. Ignorance is bliss
      Haplogroup E1b1b (formerly known as E3b) represents the last major direct migration from Africa into Europe. It is believed to have first appeared in the Horn of Africa approximately 26,000 years ago and dispersed to North Africa and the Near East during the late Paleolithic and Mesolithic periods. E-M78 and E-Z827 originated respectively at 20,000 years and 24,000 years. E1b1b lineages are closely linked to the diffusion of Afroasiatic languages.
      Marieke van de Loosdrecht et al. (2018) tested the DNA of seven 15,000-year-old modern humans from Taforalt Cave in northeastern Morocco, and all of the six males belonged to haplogroup E-M78. Autosomally they could be modelled as 2/3 Natufian and 1/3 Sub-Saharan African (West African), confirming the close genetic link between Late Paleolithic North Africans and Mesolithic South Levantines.
      Nowadays, the highest genetic diversity of haplogroup E1b1b is observed in Northeast Africa, especially in Ethiopia and Somalia, which also have the monopoly of older and rarer branches like M281, V6 or V92. This suggests that E1b1b may indeed have appeared in East Africa, then expanded north until the Levant. Nevertheless, many lineages now found among the Ethiopians and Somalians appear to have come from the Fertile Crescent during the Neolithic period. This includes some E1b1b subclades like V22 (12,000 years old) and V32 (10,000 years old), but also undeniably Near Eastern lineages like T1a-CTS2214 and J1-L136.
      Origins, Migrations, and Language Contacts
      Proto-Afro-Asiatic is proposed to have been spoken 18,000 years ago near the Horn of Africa (eastern Africa). Three dialects emerged (Omotic, Cushitic, and Chadic) from the main one and this left ‘Boreafrasian,’ the source of Berber, Egyptian and Semitic (Dalby ,p. 6). The speakers of ‘Boreafrasian’ migrated north to an arid Sahara climate, then eventually pushed on west and east. Omotic, Cushitic, and Chadic are also spoken north of the Sahara so it must be assumed that the speakers of these "dialects" migrated north likewise, though perhaps separately from the ‘Boreafrasian’ speakers (Dalby, p.6).
      Not only is afroasiatic east african but E1b1b and the dominant yline on north africans is east african originally. On these tests east african is sub saharan as well.

      @@SimpleMinded221 For Puerto Ricans who aren't predominantly black, the African ancestry that they have is usually due to generational mixture. It's people who are 10-20% African having children with other people who are 10-20% African over and over again for many generations. So it's likely that she has no recent black ancestors to talk about. While much of the European migration to the island occurred in the late-19th century, and is therefore easier to trace.
      I'm 8% African, and I have no idea who my last black ancestor was, while I can trace my father's line back to a particular town in Catalonia, since the ancestry is more recent.
