  • This video builds on the last one and talks about creating a simple digital instrument that can play chords by itself. In doing so, we introduce the objects +, gate, radiogroup, random, and kslider.
    0:00 Welcome
    1:25 Using +
    4:30 Using gate
    6:57 Using radiogroup

    how do you change the sound of the pitch? Whenever I use MSP it comes out as just a normal piano note.

      use a pack object after the make note and plug that into a midiformat object. You should be able to change the patch using the 4th inlet.

      @@DavidEFarrell I can fill a giant message , ( I call them bubbles because they have rounded edges) with prepend append hooked up to out flow from k slider for example , it records in raw form a message I want to push into a ml marcove thing .. I can't make it turn off 50 notes in, seems to want to prepend append forever ,, mabey a different prepend ,,something in the arguments ,, ... Im building a forced diatonic while notes modeling synth thing that I just incorporated some of your harmonizer tutorial ,, just posted a short sample on reddit max MSP titled" thanks David Farrell harmonizer radio group , thanks

    For some reason my laptop doesn't put out the same harmonies as shown in this example. Mine soundlike playing notes on an actual piano. I don't understand, can anyone clear that up for me?

    • @DavidEFarrell
      @DavidEFarrell  Před 5 lety +2

      Hi! Max will send the data to whatever instrument is in the same Ableton track, if you are using Max for Live. That is the playback you will hear. If you want something else, load a different instrument in the track!

      @TheReRave Před 5 lety +2

      I'm sorry, I'm new to Max 8, but how exactly do I change the instrument? @@@DavidEFarrell

    • @DavidEFarrell
      @DavidEFarrell  Před 5 lety +3

      Are you using Max for Live? If so, just drag any instrument into the same track that your Max patch lives in. If you are using Max by itself, than you need to configure your noteout. Check out the help for that object for more details - too much for me to explain here. Best of luck!
