    Oh boy, this brings back some memories! I used to run a Big Bud on the Snowy Mountain Ranch, just south of the little Snowy Mountains, north of Lavina. There were two Big Buds working the place and the other guy tried to drive through an alkali stream bed with his 60' tool bar raised up on the wheels. You can imagine how stuck that mess was as everything sunk in that white, sticky mud! Had to disconnect the toolbar and sort of walk/drag it backwards out of the bed, one end at a time, then I'd stretch a 3" tow rope down to about an inch in diameter as my tractor pulled his from the front. When something this big goes deep, there's no other work getting done that day for sure! Thanks for posting this!

    Here in central North Carolina a 40 acre field is massive. I can't imagine what farming in that big open country must be like. Love your videos, too. Thanks for sharing them!

    nothing like getting BIG BUD stuck in some gumbo to gum up your day ,,I had my steiger panther stuck worse than that a couple weeks ago ,serious gummy situation
    ,,I had to call for a ride back to my farm to get my truck and pull it out , it's name is Brutus ,and he is a 6x6 international truck tractor with a 75 ton rear hydraulic winch and a 25 ton PTO winch on the front it's a former oil rig transport built in 1976 it's perfect for this sort of thing , pulled my tractor free from the mud with pure brute force pulling power I had to call my neighbor and have him park his 9800 JD in front of my truck so i had an anchor

    I used to build those Flexi-Coil drills and carts. I got pretty good at backing up the TBT units by myself and connecting them. Still easier with help though lol.

    I got a Komatsu D39 stuck while pushing fire lanes when I crossed a narrow ditch, about 2 feet wide. Everything was fine until my final drives hit the ditch and the damn thing sunk up to the top of the cab on the backside of the dozer. It took 5 Cat D5s to pull me out. That was one long night. All it takes is a mud pocket where the water table is high and you can go straight to the frame.

      That's the thing, when it does rain, the water has to go somewhere. If you have clay mix soils like they do and like we do in Oregon. Water retention Mudspots happen !

  • @michaelhaiducek2648
    @michaelhaiducek2648 Před rokem

    Been there before. If you spread 4 bails of straw over those wheels & in the ruts it would mix with the mud, dry it out & give you the traction to get out. Take it easy on the clutch because the straw mud could bind the wheels tight & slip the clutch. You do need to disconnect implements & use cable to pull them out once you get on dry land.

    We always had better luck. Using a Tow Boat rope, its 2 1/2" thick and 100 ft long. When you start pulling, it will stretch to 140ft or so. Then its coming out after the stretch. Been using that rope for years. And have saved us everytime.

  • @spanky5476

    They should have stuck a few Hydro poles underneath the tow cable up closer to the stuck tractor, when the towing tractor pulls it will help lift the stuck tractor up out of the mud (more flotation ) . Old Farmer trick !

    About the only things I would suggest is to dig a clear pathway towards drier ground and put planks into the wheel ruts to help lift the machine up and out. When you were towing forward the tires didn't have a chance to get up above the mud and given that you were heading further into the mud it wasn't going to work.

    Gumbo yah-yah!// The only thing I can think of for future issues is to pull at an angle and perhaps take a foot of soil away first with an endloader...don't perpetuate the linear rut.// Check for the closest point of dryer soil and go for it. ...Earthmoving equipment has the same problems, but D9s-11s obviously have more ability to pull equipment out of the muck.
