I had to look twice as the cover art has changed for this one. A new Holmes silhouette profile in exchange for the hand & pipe. I like both 😊 I do wish they were numbered it would be so useful to keep up with them as they are released. Again most appreciated, looking forward to starting the week with a new adventure. Y’all are the BEST!
3:15 Holmes never betrays a confidence. Watson, however, discloses everything in The Strand, and it's the funniest part of every Holmes story that the clients still believe their secrets will be different.
3:33 Paraphrased: "whatever I have heard will never be disclosed" But Watson has published many of those secrets. And that rat is the reason we are hearing it now.
I’m going to guess and bet that somehow, she didn’t actually kill someone. My favorite Doyle are his historical writings- just breathtaking story craft analysis of the past and exposition.
Have you heard BITESIZED AUDIO’s CZcams Channel’s reading of the original Doyle’s Historic writings? If you have not heard them, I’d say it is more than worth it to check out his earliest uploaded catalog (there’s over 100 ghost & Doyle’s on there to date, so reach back or go to a PLAYLIST CATALOG) It’s well worth the trouble…for me, my love of his reading comes from the TIMING! The stories here have a little bit of the Sherlockean Theme Timing, but these ACD’s are like Jacques Cousteau travels back in time to narrate the soul of each of the stories…and Simon Standhope’s channel helped get me through a lot of rough > times. I hope it is respectful to commend another channel in the comments of another, but I saw your post & it really resonated with me. Cheers! 🍹🍸🥃🍶🍺🍷📚📖📰🪄🪭🪅🎉
I just ❤ YOUR FUN-ny📚🪄🧠📝🔍🖋️✂️🔗♻️❕🇬🇧❗️🎟️🎭🗣️🫀🕵🏻♂️🖤.•*^*•.🖤📍Thanks for your collaborative storytelling expanding Holmes; it’s always fun to see how you’ve taken the ICONIC 19th century character & pulled him through gaggles of NEW mucketty-muck again, as DETECTIVES DO 📰📚📕📖📰 But this joke one ends with the Holmes will be above the law…. Hum. Should this not have a part two entitled: VINDICATED?😊
Isn't the name of the General a bit of a clue as to his loyalty? Only names like: General Sauerkraut, Colonel Bratwurst and Admiral Donnerundblitzen are a bit more obvious... And the man-servant Rumplechüch is also kinda conspicuous.
Oh my gosh, so many grumpy people in the comments 😅. It was kinda funny at first reading all the drama but it's getting kinda sad. I'm thinking if you feel like criticizing your free CZcams audio book in a comment section you may need therapy or a friend 😅😬
Agreed! Esp "I hate his voice" .. whaaat?? So GO AWAY! So many choices available yet people love to voice their disdain. Hilariously annoying..for awhile.
I am a fan of Sherlock Holmes, and very much enjoy new stories by various authors. However, If you are looking for good Sherlock Holmes stories, I cannot recommend either this particular one, or this site. For some reason, the writer of this story, and others posted here, like to see the title character, Sherlock Holmes, defeated, belittled and humiliated. It is a common theme throughout most of the stories posted here. I was thoroughly taken with the telling of this story until the ending. Holmes worked for his King in good faith and in return is used, ridiculed and laughed at. I don't find that funny or entertaining. In the context of the story, both the officials and the lady, have made a serious enemy. While I could understand the pompous officials thinking themselves untouchable, I would think that the lady, not being from an aristocratic background, would be more familiar with the kind of damage that someone like Holmes could do. Like publicly exposing every skeleton in their closets. Or making sure their political rivals were informed. Damaging rumors spread where they will do the most good. Smart politicians are by their very nature manipulative, and they know when and who to NOT make an enemy of. While I can certainly see them using Holmes for their purposes, I cannot see them taking such pleasure humiliating him. Why would they do that? Just to be nasty? I seriously dislike stories where the writers deliberately bring the title character low in some misguided attempt to be entertaining. When Conan Doyle had Holmes defeated, he wrote it with wit and grace, not denigrating either of his heroes. I wish other writers would show similar grace.
I'd say what has been done is the classic story arc of the 'hero's journey' as identified by Joseph Campbell (hero falls into the depths of tragedy and despair, then fights back to victory). Think "The Wizzard of Oz", "To Kill A Mockingbird", "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn", just to name a few classics that use this same story arc.
I’m sorry you don’t enjoy this; it’s rather, funny/odd, but I find this actually part of the respect of the author for Sir Arthur Cohan Doyle, by “allowing” that he respects the original, he takes his homage with an air of mockingly jest-able (think his use of spread out literary puns) places, because being Sherlock can not be completely redone in a time where grace was eloquently all through the ink of the pen, & it is the strength of Doyle’s character to handle more Modern type of “wit”…I’m sorry this leaves you “wet” but I kinda like that feeling myself.🤡💩😂🥳 -just a random female listener🪭😎 P.S. I TOTALLY BELIEVE IN ART MIMICKING OTHER ARTIST’s WORK. I believe it’s MOST OFTEN FOUND FROM AFFECTION- otherwise, it’s quite a LARGE amount of time & energy for to forward MOMENTUM that already exists in it’s OWN PERFECTION- I think you’d have to be pretty daft to be that kind of PUNK! But, hey, maybe it’s just NOT YOUR CUP OF TEA 🧐🫖☕️… but it’s other people’s 🥛&🍯.
Not a bad story, but I agree with the comment regarding the belittling of Holmes. However, my main complaint is the use of phrases unlikely to be used in England at this time. To measure distances in terms of ‘blocks’ is quite wrong, as is ‘fixing’ one’s hair. Shame about the lack of attention to detail.
I enjoyed the narrator however, it didn't seem to really have a satisfactory ending. I had to double check that my phone hadn't suddenly stopped short.
I think people should write something new instead of trying to cash in on someone else's great works. This is like expecting Tolkien's brilliance but getting Amazon Prime's LotR manure.
I've been listening to a lot of these recently. I like Silverleaf, but I totally understand your point as I've returned more than a few books to audible due to the narrator. Sorry to hear that you don't like him as these are pretty entertaining.
Defenestration is a word we don’t hear often enough these days!
Thanks for the posting!
Such a great word.
The action is big in Russia
Very well done. The best yet, and more fun than original. All you purists out there, please don’t shoot the messenger
Extremely engaging. I LOVE IT.
ALL OF THEM.Thank you Messrs.Copland and Silverleaf .
From an Indian fan.

Thanks for noticing the change. This style is for the short stories. Hope you enjoy them.
Hold on to your 🎩s Copland & Silverleaf fans! Our dynamic duo have been working in overdrive churning out a novel a week for us! 😮 THANK YOU! 🎉
📖 Technology finally caught up with our back catalogue.
Then someone should tell them that in the UK we do not measure distances in blocks.

Fun fun fun. ACD is chortling in merriment on the other side.
Would love to hear the sequel to this story ... perhaps involving a couple of signed parchments, one slightly darker and one slightly lighter ...

Brilliant reading, simply extraordinary.
❤ Wow. A sheer delight. I liked this better than the old. Kept me on my toes! Is there a playlist of these????🎉

Very well written and read

Dickens was great for that. Do The Boys Hall. When I was a child, it took me a long time to decipher that Easter egg.
Good fun.

Works that hold themselves out to be literature will always be legitimately criticized, free or not. This isn't a very good one.
Just because something is free doesn’t make it ok for it to be subpar or above reproach.

A Sherlock Holmes Mystery by Craig Copland- DOES NOT COMPUTE!
I didn't like this one - a bit too strained.
I enjoyed the narrator however, it didn't seem to really have a satisfactory ending. I had to double check that my phone hadn't suddenly stopped short.

Pity -had to stop listening, because of the voice of Peter Silverleaf.
Not THAT bad is it ?

Are we supposed to care? If his voice doesn't fit your taste.. move on! Nobody will miss you, believe me!
Please change the narrator
