This guy is a legend, such an accomplished musician, my favorite guitarist!
Daryl was great with Jean Luc Ponty. That’s where I first came across him in the mid 70s.
"I'll pet your cat." I see what you did there Daryl. You as slick as your guitar riff.
When Daryl was playing with JLP, JLP came through MKE on tour the fall of 77. The wonder of the Internet tells me the concert was Sept. 21, 1977 at Uihlein Hall. I was a senior in high school, a friend of mine who knew I liked JLP told me he was going to see Daryl with his old group, Sweetbottom at Giorgio's on 68th and Forest Home. This was Saturday that same week. I was in, didn't need to convince me. Amazing show, still remember him and Vito Wiegratz on sax trying to outdo each other.
Daryl... I was one of the 500.000 ones in Rome that day... well... actually... I'm on the DVD.............. 'cos I was front row............... whenever the camera slips in the back of Phil I'm always there................... GLAD TO HAVE BEEN A GENESIS FAN FOR 34 YEARS UP TILL NOW, SO GLAD TO HAVE HAD YOU AS A MEMBER OF MY GENESIS FAMILY: the first album I ever heard of Genesis was 'Three Sides Live', so THERE WAS YOU.
Hugs and kisses, you're part of my life forever.
I knew he'd say that Firth of Fifth is his favourite Genesis song to play, because he gets to play a big-ass solo in it.
In all likelihood, the big-ass squeaking hockey moms staring at him while hearing that, thought that were some kind of phil collins 1994 hit
Daryl is an excellent guitarist. I went to school with him and known him for many years. Him and his brother was a big influence on me to play guitar and perform for people. I'm happy to see that he was so successful with his music in life. I'm proud to know him.
Ronnie-C956 that is awesome! I live in Chicagoland, one of these days I'm gonna head up that way and connect with him
I first heard Darryl when he played with Ponty in '78. I always wondered were he'd gone, and it was only about a year ago I learned he'd started with Genesis when he was steered there on Ponty's referral.
As soon as he said his favorite song was Firth of Fifth, I looked it up. 2007 and there he is at When in Rome 2007 in front of a half million people. That's insane!
sure seems a lovely bloke- to get along happily with touring bandmates for so long you'd have to be I guess
One of my guitar idols. He'd scare Jimi Hendrix off the stage!
