    Hi Paul, thanks for sharing these great ideas - I really liked the first one!
    However, when I set it on my fx30, the focus hold button on the lens only does the opposite... While the camera is set to MF it does nothing as long as I hold it, and when I let go, it then switches into AF. When I press and hold it again, it goes back to MF as long as I hold the button. Any idea what setting causes this? I'd like it to switch so AF when I hold it, just as you showed.
    Thanks for your advice and all the great videos!

    • @PaulJoy
      @PaulJoy  Před rokem

      Hi Joel. If you change the focus mode on the screen instead of using the button once then everything should become correct :) the button is a toggle so you just need to get the mode where you want it to start with.

    • @Joulfreunde

      @Paul Joy Hi Paul, thanks for your reply! For some reason (i probably set something wrong) its only a one way thing for me: Whether I have the camera set to AF or MF in the first place, while I hold the lens button (set to AF/MF Selector Hold), I can only focus manually. As soon as I let go, it then sets the camera to AF-C (even if it was in MF before)...
      Might send Sony an email to aks about this. Their manual clearly says "AF/MF Selector Hold: Switches the focusing mode while the button is held down.". So just as you say, I'd expect it to switch into the other mode (both ways) while holding the button.

      Hi Steve. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it some thought and see if I can think of a format that would be suitable. Thats where it gets tricky to teach as it totally comes down to the subject and understanding whats going to be possible in order to correct that shot in post.

      Atomos clipping zebras, overexpose a shot and set the zebra levels to show all areas that are clipping. With the Ninja V this varies depending on lut loaded so there’s no definitive setting, just look to match what the waveform is showing for clipping levels.

    Hi Paul! Thanks a lot for your videos. Helped me alot when I decided to change to SONY and the FX30. I have seen in your video here that the Fx3 has a function called AF/MF selector hold. The way it is used in your videos, as I understand it, is to have the camera in MF mode and then when you need you temporally hold the button (AF/MF selector hold) for as long you want AF to kick in. My problem with FX30 is that when the Button is hold it changes to AF, so then you have to push AF/MF toggle to change back to MF. Do you recognice this? Thankful for help! Best regards Petter

    Second, I would like to understand the picture profile because I don't know wich one is the S-Cinetone, and the S-LOG 3 between all those PP1, 2, 3 etc ... ?
    And finally, I would like to really understand the differences between "file format" and which one is the best to work in post ?
    If you could answer me it will be great, and better maybe you could make another video on those subjects.

      Hi Denis, I'm really pleased the video helps. When you say manage the Shinobi and camera at the same time I'm assuming you mean in terms of the tools used. When using the Shinobi I generally use that for all of my composition work however I do balance the zebras between both the camera and the monitor. I'll generally have any skin tone or middle grey zebras on the cameras display and use the Shinobi to show blown out areas.
      For Slog3 use PP8 for S-Cinetone use PP11
