  • How to fish with the water resistant Splashdrone FD1 fishing drone. Drone fishing techniques with Kaleb in 15 - 20 knots or more of offshore wind. This video is instructional and shows all the "How to fish with a drone" techniques if you are considering getting in to drone fishing but are unsure how easy it is. Calibrating the SwellPro FD1 is incredibly easy, especially when compared to the older generation Splashdrone 3, 3+, and earlier models. Kaleb shows how to calibrate the drone, and how the mechanical release works.
    The SwellPro Splashdrone FD1 has a max payload of 2kg, max casting distance of 1600m, and comes with your choice of either tension release, or mechanical release as shown in this video. The mechanical release also has the option of a live feed camera so you can see where you are dropping your baits. The new battery allows up to a massive 26 minutes of flight time.
    On these #drones we are taking out 6 hooks, using the #Daiwa Tanacom electric reel and #Penn Spinfisher VI 10500 to haul in the line and fish. Whole piper, trevally, and soft plastic baits were used to catch snapper and gurnard, using PFS Target Snapper hooks.
    Our fishing adventures take us throughout #Aotearoa fishing, so keep an eye on our channel for more #landbased #fishingvideos using #kites, electric #kontiki torpedos, and drones including the AEE Condor, #Splashdrone4 , #Swellpro #FD1 , and #Rippton #Mobula #quadcopter fishing drones.
    Paul's Fishing Systems runs regular drone fishing demonstrations throughout #NewZealand. #Subscribe to our newsletter at the link below to receive notifications of where and when we will be fishing at a beach near you.
    The SwellPro #FD1 #Drone #Fishing setup is one of the easiest fishing rigs to use, and is ideal for anyone wanting to catch fish with a drone, from beginners who have never flown a drone, through to those who have experience but want a water resistant #fishingdrone.
    The #Splashdrone 4 (and older models) and SwellPro Fisherman Drone (FD1) are water resistant, which means they will resist the entry of water to an IPX4 level. For technical reasons, some parts of the drone are designed to be not completely sealed or completely watertight, so the drone should not be submerged under water. If the Splashdrone comes in contact with saltwater, the user is advised to wash any saltwater off with fresh water. Always follow all documentation and instruction manuals that come with the drone.

    I have been using a Splashdrone 2 for 4-5 years and it is still going fine. Enjoyed your video, showed how drone fishing is fishing but with fun added. A couple of tips though. You should hit the bait release before engaging the reel as unlike your other drone which would just pull free the Splashdrone won't and it just gets pulled up with an unnecessary jerk. (I had a leg fall off from that jerk once at the beginning as the drone reared up and caught the line on the leg then pulled it out as the drone righted itself.) The other thing is instead of having a loop to go onto the bait release I tie a small aluminum carabiner there so all I have to do is lift the drone and snap it on. I am usually on my own so it saves having to open and close the release to attach your bait rig. I did wonder how successful that calibration had been as the drone looked pretty unstable when it returned to land. This generation of Splashdrone are reputed to be more stable than my old one but I would be alarmed if mine was dancing around like that. Even in a bit of wind. I love the look of that big battery though!

    Great info, I have purchased a FD1 for fishing, however I have only been able to calibrate it and the fly about 20 yards before the "Battery Low" indicator came on and the battery won't charge. Have been attempting to correct this issue with the company for over 2 weeks, to no avail. Buy at your own risk.

    @Icemaiden28. Před 2 lety +1

    You only done one of the calibrations out of the 3 required according to the book are the other 2 required? Daily. And apparently you have to turn drone off inbetween each of the calibrations. But I've tried both ways and it seems to still work. I also done calibration by swinging the drone around like the aee and that still worked also.

    • @paulsfishingsystems
      @paulsfishingsystems  Před 2 lety +2

      Other two calibrations are only needed if it’s brand new (this one had been set up as a demo prior), or if it’s been crashed, or more than 100km away from where it was last calibrated, or isn’t flying as it should. The remote will also tell you if the compass or gyroscope needs to be calibrated. See instructions swellpro.com/uploadfiles/files/2d/2df6befc87-swellpro-fisherman-user-guide-v10.pdf

    I am keen on this. But looking at description on your website, it says that some parts are not water resistant. But this video shows that the drone was thrown in salt water. Bit confused. Please kindly clarify as I would like to purchase this in Auckland. Thanks

    • @paulsfishingsystems
      @paulsfishingsystems  Před rokem

      Salt water is not good for electronics in general. These are rated water resistant, meaning if they happen to end up in the water they’ll be ok after a rinse with fresh water, which we always recommend if your drone goes in the sea. This was purely testing, and the drone suffered no issues but was rinsed with fresh water

      Out of the Condor, Rippton, FD1, and SD4? Hard to say as they all have great features. The Condor is the least stressful (always a risk when fishing) being the cheapest, but the FD1 is still relatively cheap and is an awesome drone. I like the FD1 with tension release, safer method of deploying, same as the Condor has. Give us a call to discuss your needs

    • @paulsfishingsystems
      @paulsfishingsystems  Před 2 lety

      @@Max-um6oj yea we see the FD1 being far more popular than the Splashdrone 4 because of the difference in price, FD1 has the same lift so for fishing is just as good. Batteries are 6500mah, they last up to 26 minutes depending on conditions

    • @paulsfishingsystems
      @paulsfishingsystems  Před 2 lety

      They both have the same lift capacity, but the SD4 has a better battery. You get up to 26 minutes on an FD1, up to 30 in a SD4. Main reason to go the SD4 over FD1 is if you need the better camera options. Batteries take around 90 minutes to charge

      Taking off from the water is the same from boat or shore, but landing a drone in a boat is not an easy task nor is it recommended. We hand catch when in a boat, or we land the drone in the water next to the boat and then collect it.
