    Offroading a CR-V... Makes sense when you consider the long road trips he's taking it on. He has probably passed quite a few broken down Jeep's. It's not the most capable SUV, but it makes up for it in efficiency and reliability. My 2004 CR-V has 257k and still runs great.

      247k on my 2004 Wrangler. Only breakdown was when my son “somehow” cracked the bellhousing the tranny. The shop said he must’ve been jumping it. My wife’s Element is at 250k and it’s broken twice; once was a solenoid or switch or something associated with the alternator that the dealer fixed for free (it had 140k at the time) because it was Christmas and he wanted us to get home safely. Don’t recall what the other item was, but it was less than 10 minutes for the local garage to fix it and the part what around $30. I’d say both have been super reliable for me.

    Absolutely love my 2006 CRV. Extremely reliable and great gas mileage. Has handled everything I've needed it to thus far, from carrying a full load of scientific research equipment and camping equipment on rough forest backroads to cruising around town getting groceries. Underrated and very capable vehicles, not to mention very low profile and grayman in almost any setting. I installed a lightbar behind the grille on mine in addition to some improved parts in the engine and some added luxuries in the cab. Fucking love Hondas.

      @WhiteCavendish Před 2 lety +1

      @@whyisthisnottyping there's debate on that, and it partially depends how old and saggy your springs are, which a lot of them are uber saggy now. I believe, assuming you don't have saggy springs, you can safely run 215/75/15 on stock suspension. I currently run a 2" hrg lift kit on fresh struts with a 1/4" engine drop, and I'm running 235/75/15. After a little bit of trimming and bashing in the wheel wells, it has almost no rubbing unless you really heavily load it with gear.

    people dont understand that when they are thinking about purchasing an off road vehicle, these old 4x4 crvs and escapes can do over %90 percent of any offroading. Like jeeps are great but people rarely will ever use its potential, subarus are great but can be quickly limiting once off fire roads, but these early 2000's are in the goldilocks zone of capability and practicality. my 2001 ford escape without lift literally has just as much clearance as most trucks, all independent suspension, reasonable fuel economy, can sleep two inside and enough space to stick a kayak in with everything closed (without people inside of course). I would imagine its the same with this generation of crv. Also its worth noting that if you like to travel to mexico to camp and what-not, these older SUVs are plentiful down there so you are more likely to obtain any service or parts.

      He left the info in the video. It's a pretty straightforward process with the correct parts. 👍

    Dude, I fucking LOVE this!!! I have an all original 97' CR-V, and it just lives in beastmode...300,000+ miles and going strong. Had to have the trany rebuilt in 07' but that's it. I would love to refurbish my car like this. But really, I just want to overhaul the motor and drivetrain, maybe turbo charge it, which I hear can be done to great effect. What's that CR-V group you're talking about? I need to be a part of that, cause I worship the ground this vehicle treads on son

    I have a 99 CRV and I love it. It’s a great car for what it is: an all weather grocery getter.
    All of these mods are pretty much a waste of money. Cold air intake? 1” lift? Rear disk brakes? Fog lights? Need bars? Don’t need any of that. It still isn’t 4x4 with locking differential, still doesn’t have low. Won’t handle mud like a real 4x4. Just enough of a bump to get you truly stuck. I doubt any of these modified CRV’s would do any better than a stock one.
    Before getting any of that cosmetic crap get a winch to pull yourself out of trouble.
    I do like the roof basket, jerry can holder, storage box. Those are nice camping additions.
