@@annavaskelainenI see this 1 year old reaction of FORESTELLA’s 2020 performance of Hijo De La Luna is sitting at 152 000 now…I wondered if you knew they did another version of Hijo De La Luna recently on 6/1/24 on a special episode of IMMORTAL SONGS : Kim Soo-Cheol and NEW FRIENDS. Forestella were invited as guests this legendary guitarist had not met or played with before. Kim is a legendary guitarist and he leads them in the performance of another song: THE SHOW MUST GO ON by Queen.
They are a trio currently until their bass singer KO WOORIM returns from mandatory military service, so the song is perfect for this phase of their journey. He finishes on 19th May 2025. Luckily the other 3 have already completed their service many years ago. So they’ve had to rearrange HDLL TO SUIT 3 VOICES. BOTH ARE LIVE PERFORMANCES. They will continue as a trio, no Forestella tours but other appearances and solo concerts etc.
Woorim has a basso profundo voice and is a fully trained opera singer with masters in voice classical just like their leader Cho MinGyu 3rd to the right in the 2020 lineup. 😊The tenor soprano is the only member with no formal music education…is actually a qualified chemical engineer and worked 4 yrs as a research chemist until he resigned a year after becoming founding member of Forestella in a tv competition Phantom Singer. He is self-taught as a singer…was a rock singer part-time since University with a band called PITTA, and then later he joined a work band and sang amongst other songs PHANTOM OF THE OPERA …😅😅Kang HyungHo singing both the phantom and Christine’s roles. He has resurrected the PITTA name as his solo rock act since 2020, alongside Forestella activity. 4th member is Bae DooHoon , active musical theatre actor and singer who has quite a versatile voice. PITTA covers Muse, Within Temptation, Billie Eilish, Coldplay, Radiohead, Nightwish, System of a Down, etc..plus has his own originals. SNOW GLOBE ..not a Christmas song ..is his first composition for the group and all 4 contributed to the vocal arrangements. Each member has a solo career and are eclectic in their music tastes…that’s for another day.
The guy with the high pitch (Kang Hyung-Ho/PITTA), had NO vocal training before the programme that created Forestella. He was a Research Chemist who sanf in a Rock band in his spare time. The basso Profundo (Ko WooRim), and the Tenor (Cho Mingyu) are both Classically trained. The last one you were waiting for is Bae Do-Hoon, who was trained in Theatre. You may like their "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Bad Romance" or "Shape of you", but most fans seem to favour "Je suis malade". 😭 Simply sublimely heartwrenching.

This is Forestella, a crossover group from Korea. They are the winner group in the Phantom Singer 2; an audition show to form a crossover quartet like il Divo from Korea. However as they have their own unique style, they won't be Korean il Divo, they will be the Forestella of the world!
Forestella has sung great covers like Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the Champions, Hijo de la Luna, Heal the World, the Sound of Silence, My Favorite Things, Champions (mash-up of Champs league theme and Champions by Jo SuMi), Nella Fantasia, Scarborough Fair..etc etc. At the Phantom Singer All Stars they sang Time in a bottle, Je suis Malade as well. Shape of You in English, Spanish and African Zulu is fantastic indeed.
You can even see them dancing singing Smooth Criminal as well! And they broke the record of their own with Bad Romance which seems toxic version of their Lazenca Save Us, winning 5 trophies for King of Kings in a row in Immortal Songs.
Forestella is a quartet of Ko WooRim (classical bass, intense abyss-deep low tone), Kang HyungHo (ex-research chemist, rock vocalist with soprano head voice falsetto), Cho MinGyu (classical leggiero tenor, light boyish crystal clear tone) and Bae DooHoon (musical actor, 159th King of the Masked Singers, emotion convincer good at R&B, Pop). Each has distinct tone and style of singing, different charm. But all of them are famous as practice-freaks. They meet almost everyday to practice together. In a radio program the leader (Cho MinGyu) revealed it would be around 20 days they didn't meet in the year. Bae DooHoon also said they don't meet 1~2 days in a month. I think this explains how their perfection can be possible.

FORSTELLA is very versatile. They cover legendary songs of all genres in different styles and languages, always respecting the original. Their version of "Bad Romance" just went viral. Their "Shape of You" is an extremely successful fusion of diverse styles with rousing vibes. The interpretation of "Je suis malade" is breathtaking pure emotion. How about "Sweet dreams" (Eurythmics) for the rockier part or a little heavier "Lazenka Save Us" (epic Korean rock). For the more classically oriented songs I definitely recommend "Nella fantasia", "In un' altra Vita","Scarborough Fair" or "If I Leave". The harmonies, their voices and vocal ranges are particularly stunning here. FORESTELLA is musical passion in perfection.

I really enjoy Forestella and their blend of different vocal styles into one - It if had all been only classical/operatic singers then they would just sound like a choir or a classical vocal ensemble, but the differences make you taste new possibilities in the "clash" of styles - poppy, operatic, rock, musical theatre, and so on.
A unique male vocal group. And to be honest, sometimes I could be a bit-biased towards all-male vocals rather than all-female because of the range the males can cover (down to bass) and the females don't often have true contraltos (Which is a rare voice type).

Oh! You are in for a whole adventure with this quartet! There are many recommendations of their covers over there so I will ask for their original song Save Our Lives. You can watch live, however the music video is gorgeous and their company see reactions as a form of promotion, so there is less risk than watching a TV live show!
Also, the one you were waiting for a solo moment is my favorite voice, he shines beaultifully in Je Suis Malade and Time In a Bottle, the last is my favorite cover of them.

- The wonderful flexible {mid) Tenor is classically trained and sang for a while with the Milan Opera Co.
- The Bari-Tenor (Yes- Total Hunk!) has such a rich warm tone. I gather he has a background in popular music and musical theatre.
-Then we have the one that blows my mind more than all the rest; that stunningly beautiful crystal clear counter tenor voice. The FUNN'EST! Fact abut HIM is not just the startling beauty of his voice, but that he had no musical training at all before coming into this group - but was working as an Industrial Chemist!
So, I read that they all came together as individual artists to a song competition and then formed up as a group form there - but whoever put this together and guided this immaculate arrangement is pure GENIUS!👋👋👋

7:00 This is Bae Doo-hoon. He majored in acting, but turned into a musical actor due to his outstanding musical talent. Forestella plays tenor baritone. Depending on the song, the tone and emotion are completely different. She is a charming singer with a warm personality and humor.
I really like the interpretation. This waltz has a incredible "Nightmare before Christmas" vibe.
Big props for the ending. It gives a really nice twist to a new interpretation of a well known song without "doing too much".
Really like the bass. He has a powerful commanding voice like a classical villain or a dark brooding (anti)hero.
Great choice Anna, could be a bit more death metal, but really great 😆. I found something beautiful today.

I just caught a little of the première live (and then ofc watched from the start).
Such a surprising performance. I love this song, I don't know many Spanish songs but I looked up translations (the song is hard to translate, literal translation doesn't portray the meaning right). I then also found a nice cover of an English translation of the song.
I didn't expect to like guys singing this, I often prefer female vocals, but the contrast makes this so very cool. Btw, wasn't that high tenor a soprano?

if you want to see one where bae doo-hoon(the guy you said you were waiting for more solo parts) i suggest you react the "Je Suis Malade" cover by them. In that song his voice is the main focus(and rightfully so, you'll understand when you watch it ;D). Its not like they have favorites they just choose whose voice is more fit for the particular song they're singing, this song just happens to be more focused on the bass and soprano.

Hi!
I’d like to recommend you another crossover group from South Korea(from Phantom Singer 4 this year) I discovered recently. Its name is “Forténa” that consists four tenors(I’ve heard it’s the first crossover group with four tenors). This group has two count tenors which is unusual for crossover group.
One of the members is a very famous count tenor(His name is DQ Lee and played in lots of operas all over the world).
When I heard their very much first debut songs, “Neaolis” and “Demain n’existe pas“ in a competition program(phantom singer 4), I had goosebumps everywhere.
I’m sure you would like them and I’d love to hear your opinion about their singing!
