You antique booth is successful because you're not running a museum, unlike many sellers. If you price the stuff to move, it will move.

Hey suggestion for your booth. Since you have the Dos Equis guy which is pretty cool. Maybe come up with a # that is unique for you and put a sign up inviting people to take selfies at your booth with the cutout and post them on Instagram or Tik Tok with your hashtag. Might draw in some business and would probably be cool to see the photos of who stops by the booth.

Honestly, it's the easiest money that I've ever made in my life!! Price an item, drop it off and you're done!!! Absolutely love it!!!!

Re: the eBay automatically adding Best Offer topic - I can confirm that this has happened to me as well over and over again when listing through the App (Android) despite verifying Best Offer is turned off - it just appears turned on several days later (no bids are being auto-accepted though, I don't know what that's about). The other thing the eBay app will do is reset free shipping, but this appears to be more of an option revert bug that occurs when moving between screens and not something that gets changed after posting like the Best Offer. My workaround is to start the listing from the app (ease of adding photos without shuffling them between devices) and then save as draft and finish on PC - if it posts from site instead of app it never changes. The eBay experience is FULL of bugs.

Yes, They used to do this to me all the time . after about a week of being listed eBay would turn on offers on all the listings and I would have to go in and turn them all back off again. they send you a message saying your listings can now accept offers and they show you which ones they changed. I never had anything sell itself though. I just got offers from people that I wasn't expecting.

As a former owner of an antique mall, I can tell you that you should have 2 or 3 times the number of items you have in each booth. You could still make it look neat and not junky. It’s just like eBay, the more you have available for sale the more you will sell. Fill those booths up and your sales will double. My two cents. I enjoyed the video!

They at times have been some of my best finds. I knew of a successful antique dealer in Maine that kept a close eye on the booths at antique malls in his area. He would watch them closely and could tell when items were not moving over a period of time. He would offer ten cents on the dollar and take everything. Did this work all the time, of course not. His strategy worked enough for him over the years.

Hey John. Love your channel! I buy at yard sales and sell on ebay some but mostly sell in antique boothes. Suggestion to viewers: If possible find a weekend tourist destination town to set up in. I have 300 sq ft in our local shop in eastern WV that attracts DC metro folks. Been doing this for 20 + years. August sales topped $3,000 with rent at $465 & no commissions. Selling vintage and newer toys, comics, star wars, character glasses, lunchboxes, cookie jars, Hot Wheels, records, sports & western memorabilia, pop culture, soda, brewianna, ad signs mirrors and trays, tin cans, old bottles, mantiques, etc. Items range $3 - $100 but most hover $10-$30. My new rule is to only buy what can fit in a box, shelf or showcase and load the space up to the gills! Best to you and your family!

Along with Records another great thing to sell is Marvel and DC Comic books they dont take up much space. Another thing about having a booth is small add on things like hot wheels. I have a loose bin of hot wheels that I sell 2 for 1 dollar and I am constantly refilling it. Also sell lots of stuffed animals. with the stuffed animals I look for pop culture like muppets, pokemon, star wars, and pound puppies. One more thing that does well is unopened packs of sports cards. you can find boxes of unopened sports cards for $10 to 20 bucks and most of them come with 36 packs. if you sell them for $1 to $2 a pack people will buy them. I found 6 boxes of unopened packs, (basketball, football, baseball) and sold out of them in 3 months. I have even had people reaching out if they could buy more because there is now where you can buy a single pack. remember, whatever you sell at your shop is going to be going to people that have impulse buys and you want to target them. I hope this helps. @cincinnatipicker we should talk sometime I could really help you out with ideas for your booth I think you could double what you are currently making easy. eBay has been doing the Best Offer thing for at least a year to anyone who either uses the simple listing form on the PC or through the app. If eBay feels your price is too high, or higher than previous solds, they will add it automatically. More experienced sellers who list through the advanced tab won't have this happen.

I think antiques booths are dying in most areas, but I’m only speaking from my own local perspective. Like Lonnie said in your podcast (I think), most dealers are breaking even on rent. That’s just an awful business model. Selling smalls in a booth is just an especially terrible move, now that eBay traffic is so robust.
I used to sell in a booth a few years ago, and it wasn’t worthwhile until I used all my space for vinyl. At that point, my booth was dominating the foot traffic and sales. The landlord told me I was the only one making money, and when I looked around at the booths around me, I didn’t doubt it.

You're not wrong. We do still have some months where we make a few hundred at the booth and some where we're lucky to break even. There are certain items that the condition is difficult to explain or shipping could be a nightmare, so we're keeping the booth for now. Concentrating on larger stuff.

      @josephwagner3558 Před 3 lety

We do good business at our booths. You have to find a niche and develop a following. Keep your prices low, we leave enough so if another vendor wants to flip it there's still meat on the bone. But above all you need to watch your ROI, we buy low enough to keep our margins high.

Best offers can be added via eBay but will never accept an offer in your name. they do this when items are listed above the average comp it calculates based on items that meet the same search range. They also will add a best offer option after the first 30 days with no watchers. This by no way will ever accept a best offer but you will possibly receive some offers which you can decline and update your listing with best offer turned off. they can add it again without notice. Just something to keep an eye out for.

I went to an antique mall recently that I will avoid . It was dirty, the booths were over crowded and looked neglected. It was not a pleasant experience.

I’ve been thinking about a booth but it is hard to find space. I went to your antique mall once (other side of town but near family) and really enjoyed it there. I will keep trying to find a good place but I’m seriously considering your mall now.

It has changed mine to free shipping and It has also changed mine to best offer as well. It doesn't do it as much now but before it was doing it to every 5th or so listings.

Hi, ebay always changes my listings to best offer after a few days of listing it and they send me an email 'your items can now accept offers' and I have to hurry to change it because they're always really low. I got so annoyed and stressed that now I set all items to accept offers one dollar less than my ask price. I list by phone.

It’s happened to me too. I notice after I change it back once I’m good. But seems to reset if I have the listing expires with auto repost.

Hello and thank you for Video. Im selling in UK and have exact same problem with ebay to set "Best Offer" after a while. It does it all the time. Even if I dont put it ! Its very annoying. I found it only on my new ebay account. Dont have it on my old ebay account.

Very nice rubdown on the antique booths, John. Thanks for sharing so much. Now forgive my ignorance, but I gather the antique mall is open all day, every day, and as part of their rent and commission structure, they handle sales for you whenever you are not present, correct?

About every three or four days, eBay changes a few of my listings to Best Offer also. As another commenter said, eBay thinks they are helping you with your sells. That’s fine, but don’t do it automatically so that I have to go in and change them all back to Buy It Now. Check with me first if you think it might help. It should be my choice. I don’t need extra work!

Ebay app is way too buggy. The only thing that I use it for is the barcode scanner. I do all final listing on my desktop, you can do more and while a bit slower much easier.

    Hi John,
I'm a fairly new viewer to the channel and have been going through your videos for a few weeks now. I was wondering... You clearly enjoy picking but what is/are your long term goal(s)? Is picking something you could see yourself doing for the next 10 years or do you have an end game?
Keep up the good work! 👍🏻

I get so tired of seeing people in CP, Lonnie and other resellers’ comment sections talking about how they wouldn’t get sales if not for the channel. John has so many sales to viewers primarily because he has GOOD PRODUCT not because he has thousands of viewers. I can almost guarantee that the only effect of John’s channel is the SPEED that things move out the door. If John sells something to a viewer in a week, he almost certainly would’ve sold it to someone else in two. People love to look for a reason to discount others’ success, but the truth is that John has years and years of hard work and experience behind him, YT or not. Keep up the good work CP!
