  • Right at the end of the Summer we made it to Ben More, which means 'big mountain' (it's 1174 meters / 3851 feet high). We parked up at Loch Iubhair, which is surrounded by such a beautiful and peaceful scenery, and then we made our way up the path and stone stairs. This is a pretty relentlessly steep mountain, possibly the hardest I've climbed so far. It also has amazing views ... at least until we entered the cloud. The weather report was not entirely on point that day. I don't mind though, being in a cloud is its own special experience. We then descended on the other side and went up the next peak, Stob Binnein, which is also a Munro and at 1165 meters (3822 feet) only a little less tall than Ben More. Going up Stob Binnein was far easier, though we also battled with the cloud. On the way down we descended between the two peaks and around the base of Ben More. It was a long way and we just barely made it back to the car before it was completely dark. (At least we could stop and admire the Milky Way on the way home.) My legs were dead for a good few days, but it was worth it. Come along and enjoy!

How will we recognize Ben More? Oh, nevermind, it's impossible to miss. It literally is a 'big mountain' (which is the meaning of its name in Gaelic). More Hillwalking adventures here: czcams.com/play/PLfWQdpuhmpDgCCrvODNDvmXt8f8MSuSpf.html

Astonishing views! Thanks for showing the beauty of Scotland for those of us who have never been there!

That's the thing with Scottish Peaks. You can get up there and be right in the clouds... 2 mins later it can be crystal clear or vice versa. The Scottish mountain weather is so changeable. Great video!

If I hadn't crawled up like a snail, we might have made it before it closed in. 😂 Typically at least you get great views most of the way up. Perhaps we'll have a few crisp days later in the autumn for a decent view. I've missed going up mountains. 😁

Great video. Some nice views of Ben Challum on the way up, which I did a few weeks ago.

Ooh. I'll keep that one in mind for the future. 😁
