I saw this song played live in SLC at In The Venue. Really small place. This was the opener. I will always remember being in the front about 7 feet away from Isaac screaming the lyrics while staring me in the eyes with a half crazed look on his face. There is so much talent and soul in these guys.
My favorite band of all time! Isaac Brock is such a great writer with so much to say and such unique vocals and guitar skills....So worth seeing live! Don't miss 'em when they are playing a show near you!!
Luis E. Serna In theory a guitar can do that. If you plug a guitar into an amp and shout at the strings/pickups then it will will happen. The strings vibrate and form notes, that is what the pick ups pick.....up.....So if you yell at them they pick that up too...
pickups are capable of some magic stuff. If you hold the lowest string against your neck with alot of gain your voice comes through. Ive also found putting a phone up to it will make whatever is going on like music or a vid or whatever come through your amp too

This is real music. Isaac is huge source of insparation for me. Everthing he does seems to work for me and ever album of both Modest Mouse and Ugly Casanova just makes me wanna write more of my own music.
Did anyone notice the lyrics mix there. I lvoe how isacc brings lyrics and solos from other songs into songs. He uses ylrics and lics from Star and the Projectiles. The part about heart strings
Fuck my mind is fucking boggled at this shit. The fucking chemistry they all share and how fluently the fucking improv went. Goddamn they are one of the greatest bands ever.

But anyways, the reason he has his guitar just slightly out of tune is just to add more flavor and character to his sound. It's his (and the more innovative artist's in general) way of telling us to think outside the box when it comes to creating art.
Isaac Brock is a musical/lyrical genius, it baffles me how Modest Mouse is not a widely well known band. It just goes to show you that the "mainstream" is full of talentless hacks. Like Rebecca Black? That is proof that it does not take talent to make it big which makes me absoutely sick. Modest Mouse FOREVER! LCW!
I liked Modest Mouse so much better when they were just a three piece. Granted, they're still one of my favorite bands and their new albums are still better than 90% of music today, but they just had more of an attitude in the early days. Oh well
Nah the intro is definitely a bass part on the studio version. The fact that it's played an octave up on the bass puts in the rage of a guitar, thats what's confusing

You won't hear them play Dramamine as it was recorded originally, but the blended version has become almost undeniable. I've heard it blended so many times it sounds odd without.
