- I decided to visit Eindhoven Netherlands. When you search for things to do in Eindhoven not a whole lot shows up other than museums and a visit to a PSV match. I decided to visit the 5th biggest city in the Netherlands and see what it was really like.
I can say that I wasn't disappointed. The city was different than any other Dutch city I have previously visited in the Netherlands. It seemed like a mix of high buildings and traditional Dutch buildings. I also met the best skate boarder in the city.

Fun fact: yes working class city BUT Eindhoven and the region around Eindhoven (also known as Brainport) has over the years become very known for its high tech industry and was actually once named as the smartest region in the world.
Its also the region of the most drug labs
Aka the Silicon Valley of Europe/Netherlands
My 1st time to the Netherlands I stayed in eidhoven, and I loved it . I've been to the Netherlands 3 times and I cant wait to go back

Lived in Eindhoven for many years in the centre (where you were roaming) and I miss it. It has unique vibe ... The last Street is stratumseind (pub street) which is longest pub street in Netherlands

Yo! Awesome you came here. It’s actually originally indeed a working class city but right now it has transformed, thanks to a lot of effort, to a very very high tech region, with the Brainport Eindhoven and the Technical University. In the south there is also the “High Tech Campus”, considered the smartest square km in the world!
Near the Saint Catherine’s Church, the oldest one, you can also find the longest pub street in the Netherlands, and everything is super close, so the PSV stadium is a 10m/15min walk away. Next time you’re coming, if you need someone to guide you, I’ll gladly help! Cheers and great video!

Next to the underground bicycle garage, goes a river,wich also goes underground, called De Gender. When they were digging to build that garage, a 14th century city gate was exposed. But instead of showing this, they photographed all, and build the garage anyway. Digging for the " Heuvelgellerie" mall, resulted in finding foundations of a castle.
I am in Eindhoven for almost 2 months now .... so far i like it. It is a nice city, nice people ! Did not visit to many places because of corona and still trying to make some friends around here !
I have lived in many cities around the world (note: LIVED, for at least couple of years) and Eindhoven was the best.

@@hrh2092 I am thinking wheter the best choice for me is Amsterdam, Delft or Eindhoven. Eindhoven has many tech companies. Isn't what you listed a common feature in the netherlands?
I am scared the city having not that much population and being boring. Even if working wise it may be a good choice, I am afraid I won't find that entertainment or the kind of people i'd like to meet.
You mentioned multi culture, that's a good thing, are there many asian students or young workers? Are there enough music events and so on?

@@xenoclassical4058 late reply but: Eindhoven is a huge city like Amsterdam but much more chill. Everyone in Amsterdam seems frustrated, all the time.
Delft is beautiful but not as big as Eindhoven or Amsterdam.
I think that Eindhoven is the perfect balance of being a city while feeling like a village.

Eindhoven has so much more to offer! I'm from the Netherlands and Eindhoven is my favourite Dutch city! Because of the lockdown everything was closed and quiet. Normally Eindhoven is a very lively/vibrant city with a nice international city vibe. The city is very modern and very different than other Dutch cities. And it's the home of one of the biggest football clubs in the Netherlands, PSV Eindhoven. Champions League nights in Eindhoven are legendary! You should definitely come back to the city to experience the real Eindhoven!

Oh man I forgot, you should have tried surinamese food, very popular cuisine in the netherland, you would have loved it! Next time you should try it! They often do takeaway or delivery.
I lived in Eindhoven for 9 months. I know all the streets where you went. In summer it will be beautiful city.
The pub street you were in was pre covid the most crowded place of the city. too bad you couldnt experience that. Eindhoven is alot of fun if you know where to go.
Stratumseind seems to me the most crowded place, not the dommelstraat..

I like your vloggs. Please also visit Maastricht and the three-country point Netherlands-Belgium-Germany. Maastricht area is the most different looking Dutch region. The architecture and hilly surroundings are more like Belgium.

Yes, I am from Eindhoven, but you can not skip Maastricht. One of my favorite Dutch cities, with Breda and Delft.

Check out Maastricht and Roermond brother.
Could do them in a day, basically.
Not sure what the winter-festivities are this year, but Maastricht usually goes pretty big on that stuff.
If you do end up in Maastricht, check out the fries (but especially the homemade runny mayo) at Reitz...if its opened.
Also check out the wafflestand across from it...or any baked goods stand or store in the south (we like our pies and pastry!)
And if you see a "Bufkes" store anywhere when ur in the south, make sure u get a "Gulpener Grillworst" and a "Broodje Limburger".
Frietje Zuurvlees is also a very specific southern thing you should try.

the reason eindhoven is not touristy is simple:
it was just a small village until the end of the 19th century.
then 5 villages were joined together and started to grow,thanks to the expansion
of the philips factories.
the touristy towns in the netherlands,like amsterdam,utrecht,maastricht,den bosch,breda
always were major cities in the past,with all the rich and historic buildings that go with it

Eindhoven has a famous Van Abbe Museum dedicated to modern art. There is a technical university and up till 1989 the Evoluon building was a technics museum.
Will you be traveling to the beautiful North of the country? You'd really like Groningen, Zwolle and the islands. Also a local wallsnack in Groningen called the "eierbal"

u should have a good guide , when corona is over come back and i can help u see whole eindhoven in 1 day, we also vlog btw but in fpv drones. i can make u a plan fpr a whole day ,see anything nature , industrie, city, action, carting , balloonflight, parks , psv , do normal dutch stuff,, breakfast, dayly ritme , airport, busses, train( u can go in eindhoven with the train for 1 stop next fast en cheap experience), rent a bike or scooter, see architerture, eat well, have nice hotel, speak a homeles, do a party, find the nice chilling groups in parks drinking, church, smartshop, etc

The funniest part is watching the guy figure out the Public Urinal from the company "Art". The reason its funny is because the guy who owns that company of portable potties or bathrooms is my neighbor. In Dutch we call them "Dixie's" in England they are called rhinos... There are many tech schools and most people know already that Eindhoven is not a working class city its a tech city its literally the Silicon Valley of the Netherlands. Its home to Philips for a 100 years now and home to ASML Some of the biggest tech companies. Eindhoven is also home to DAFT trucks the makers of the EU'S Largest trucking company.
