Thanks Chris for taking the time & reading my email & filming my father! My family is ecstatic & happy with your work! Thanks again!
This is great, I work in outside sales all over NYC, I'm going to stop by to see your Dad and have a dog next week.
Thanks so much! He will really appreciate it.
I’m gonna stop by when I get a chance, food looks great!
I would eat a dozen of those each...!
Hey I love the channel, how did you have your affiliate marketing pop up on shorts and videos? I’m stuck trying to figure this out
No matter how bad things get it’s people like this gentlemen that make New York great
Exactly.
I love it when small business people are doing well and are happy in thier work. Backbone of America.
It’s not just the great story of a member of a generation to whom hard working perseverance was everything, but the comments of support and encouragement from you all is absolutely heartwarming. This is why I pay for CZcams…thank you!
Some of the best workers for our society are unsung, I came the for dogs, but stayed for the local lore and respect for a man's job. Bravo!
My lips were falling off looking at that great food!!! I don't live in NYC anymore, but I fly there often and I have the cab driver stop the minute he reaches Manhattan for my Sabrett dogs. This gentleman, Nick, is a joy. He's what makes NY great. A great smile and wonderful customer service. I wish him everything good in life !!
Address:
30 33 Stratton St. Flushing NY 11354
Mon -Sat. 11am to 8pm
Had a BLAST filming this!! Little nuances that you notice in the video. While Nick is talking to me, he is still looking after the food and knowing its time to flip the chicken shish kebobs. That's called EXPERIENCE. Can't teach that.
All the love to Nick and his family! I hope he get's a lot more people visiting his stand because of this video.
✌🏼🙋🏼♀️👍🏻💯✨️❤️
You should have paid for the food
I did. I always do. No freebies.
going to check him out next time im in queens..
I remember him on main street, used to get Chicken skewers all the time. Never knew he did hotdogs. MTA workers and locals seems to like him as well. Really nice guy, good thing he has his own spot now and still running the business. 😊
I remember him. Didn’t know he moved. Great guy. That was over 20 years ago. Awesome
Man! The size of that hot sausage!! And for $3.50!!?? Again, i don't see how NYC hot doggers do it, but more power to them!! I agree with others Chris, that had to be the best looking yet. Going to re-watch just to see it again. Much love to Nick!!!!! ❤️🇺🇸💪🌭
As a fellow food business owner. It's great to see someone not let all the rules bs get to them and still be positive. Hope he stays busy. Good luck. Great video 🌭
Well said!
God bless Nick
God bless old school NY.
2.50$ for a good hot dog in 2023 is a steal
That had to be the best looking hot dog yet on your channel.
I think so too!
Nick is a great Guy. Been buying from him for over 15 years. Nicest guy ever. Always wish him the best of luck!
Great Great!!! a true American! Reminds me of everything I miss of Queens and the people! Live in Knoxville TN now for many years but I come up to visit my folks. If I am in the neighborhood I will stop with my family! Thank you Nick!
Last comment to you was to support the real hot dog vendor in your local plaza and not the monopolized hot dogs stands in the city that don’t care about the products and you did it my man. This is great to see I will make sure I make my visit to this young man’s stand and get me everything on the menu. Great food and people. Awesome video!
Thanks Chris. That is a great value and they looked good. I was a hot dog vendor for 10 years before I retired and loved it. I miss it a lot. Sold over 200 dogs and 30 huge baked potatoes a day with a menu of 15 of my individual dog creations. My best to Nick and I hope the good people in that area show Nick some Love. Take care Chris.
Love this!!
@@NYCHotDogStands Maybe someday TLC or the Food Network will give you your own channel on cable television.
As in New York City transit supervisor working in Flushing I patronize Nick’s cart many times over the years what a great guy.
Brings back memories of growing up in Flushing in the 69’s! Hot dogs for lunch!
My guys, let me tell you, when you I say this man and the dude across the church fed generations of kids with that cart, I'm speaking generations. I'm so happy to see them at it again. Time to go get a taste of my childhood.
This man is a Legend! Held the spot by the church for years! Flushing High School days! Thank you for sharing this, I now know where he moved to, truly made my day!
A hotdog stand like that is one of the very few things that I miss the most from New York
I live in a small town in Minnesota and have only been to New York once--back in 1999 for a high school choir trip. I remember getting a dirty water dog at night right before we touristed up The Empire State Building. These days we have a few BBQ, taco trucks and Ice cream trucks in our home-town, but I WISH we had something like Nicks stand! I can't remember the name of the vendor we got dogs from but he was Greek and it was so similar to this! They were so good and made the experience of being a kid in "The Big Apple," complete. Thank you Chris for your content, I love watching these videos and hearing your and the vendors stories!
Where at in Minn? We run a dirty water hotdog trailer in the metro. I grew up outside Chicago on those and I get my dogs from Chicago still because there's nothing like them in Minn.
I've been at Nick's stand hundreds of times. I worked at Q7 NYC Sanitation for 20 years! I usually buy the delicious Kabobs!
You have a great channel. Love when you ask the vendors questions.
Oh snap! I used to grab hot dogs and shiskabob from this dude all the time. There was him and another dude on the next block and the other dude didnt compare. Also seeing whitestone shopping center has completely changed but whitestone lanes seems to be immortal haha. Such a blast from past! Thanks for the awesome video
Omg !! I remember this dude !! I used to grab food from him after school 😂😂. Holy cow he's still around awesome!
Clean Cart , Hard Work , Dedication , Loved By All ! Would Order , and Tailgate our Lunch ! Thanks Nick !!!
I wish i could eat that hot dog. Some times it's easy to forget that a good hot dog isn't just kids food/party food. A good hot dog is something everyone can enjoy
Man I used to get kabobs from him all the time coming home from school on main st. I've since moved to NJ but will definitely be paying you a visit. Talk about memories!
Awesome video Chris! A must go!
I Think its great that we got to meet hard working people and I love good hotdogs. They reminisce its great. For the son who requested a visit to his Dads Hotdog stand Im sure the family was excited. Just a nice experience.
I lived in Flushing through my teenage years till my late twenties and ALWAYS GOUGHED DOWN THOSE SABRETTS AND SOUVLAKIS ON THE STICK. GOD DO I MISS THOSE,! So good to see a man like Nick still keeping up the good stuff. I don't live in Flushing anymore since it changed to Floo-shing. You know what I mean. God bless you Nick, make sure you take that cart to Heaven, I'm going to be looking for you on a cloud!😅
what a cool guy, thanks for visiting him Chris.
Looks good Chris. Mustard goes down first i knew the build was going to be right.
Lets go ! 🌭
Oh yeah!
Food looks great. Personable fellow with years of experience. I hope everyone that shops at the supermarket there stood by and buys a kabob or dog. Great review.
I wasn't sure there were hot dog vendor carts in NYC still. Thought it might have all gotten driven away. I moved out of NYC back in 1988. We lived in the Hell's Kitchen area of Manhattan, Jackson Heights and Astoria in Queens and I lived one year in Morris Park in the Bronx. Used to love getting a hot dog or soft pretzel this way. Sit on a corner or bench and commence the fine dining experience. Warms my heart that you went back and it was still like it was. I miss old NYC from the 1970s and 80s.
Old school hot dog cart with a simple menu, done the right way! Nick seems like such a nice guy! 👍👍
Hey thanks for that location. I’ll make sure to stop by and see Nick when I’m in the neighborhood. Always a fan of a good souvlaki and hot dog
Good to see that there's something good about New York City to see.
Oh wow, he got the mustard stick and he also have the coin collector as well. I have not seen that on a hot dog cart since the 1980s or 1990s
Great video! Adding history to the dog is the way to go.
That's my guy Nick I'm there at least twice a week..nick is always happy
I have lived in Flushing, for many years. I used to get the hot dogs and chicken kabobs. He used to have a couple of folding stools for his customers’ on Main & 39th Avenue. It took me some time to find Nick, but I stop by a couple of times per month. It’s easy to find him, since all you have to do is get off at the Linden Place exit of the Whitestone Expressway.
I live in Australia and we have a large Greek community here. The food is always delicious and the people are very hospitable. Loved this video.
I LOVE THAT. I love seeing the good ol real beef sausages and hot dogs served from clean, well kept stands. I love to see guys like these successfully making it in New York.
ill be heading over there ASAP. Cant wait. I went to Nick back in late 80's as a kid to get dogs. All this time now i know where the OG Hot dog guys went.
Queens is the best, wow that looked incredible
That hot dog looks so good in those onions what those onions look so colorful
I took a road trip back to my old hood 7 years ago because my son asked, "where did you grow up and what was it like" so, we packed up and drove 7 hrs the next day. Everything was gone, different and unrecognized. Then he said he was hungry and asked where I used to eat at so, expecting it to be long gone but, Super Subs in North Miami was still there. I started smiling. My wife and I ate there in jr & sr high. Sadly she passed but I had our son and we walked inside. I was absolutely blown away the same guy and his wife still owned it. They didn't let school kids inside anymore because it isn't 1984 any longer. After talking to the owner for a few minutes he asked if we were hungry and what my son wanted. Peanut(my sons nickname) said "same as me" and before I could say 1 word, he started cooking 2 steak n onions with provolone, mayo, lettuce and pickles and I was in shock. I graduated in 1985 then joined the Marines and left and hadn't seen that guy in all those years. Actually made me emotional. I asked him how he could possibly remember me and he said "I remember you were a quiet kid." Finding an old spot, eating, drinking, smelling, all the old memories come flooding in. It's good you found Nick. You mean alot to him. Small guy, hard working, neighborhood man, still feeding his people. What a great email from his son...
Love you Nick!❤
You can't beat the home town venders like nik. Always the best
What a cool story, especially since he was the same guy you remembered as a teenager at another location.
Nice stop! Great to see this nice gentleman working hard & keeping a great attitude! Here in Miami Lakes, I have the Sabrett's dogs, mustard & sauteed onions! Abondanza!
That was awesome, and it made me so hungry for one of those hot sausages. Man, that looked good! It's so great that Nick's customers followed him to his new location and he's able to thrive. Best of luck to Nick and his family. Thanks for bringing this, Chris!
There's still plenty of greek owned diner's in queens, including in whitestone... Whitestone diner, Lollipop Diner, then up Francis Lewis blvd at northern Blvd you have North shore diner and the greek gyro spot across the street, plus many others. Downtown flushing not so much but it was never known for diners in general. Its been chinese and Korean since I was a kid but I do remember how main street flushing was in the 1970s before it all converted over.
I think some of the ones you mentioned have closed. The one on Northern Blvd (Bayside Diner) and I think the other one on Northern Blvd was sold to non-Greek's.
@@NYCHotDogStands probably right, I have lived in Kew gardens/Richmond hill area for the past 10 years so I haven't been to diners in flushing/Bayside since then. I'm close by 2 other Greek diners: Classic diner at leferts & Jamaica, and Atlantic diner at Atlantic Ave & 112th street. 👍
Finally a real New Yorker doing food reviews of the good spots!
That stuff looked good and fresh..
👋 Hi! I used to work at McDonald's on the corner there! I bought from him a few times i remember. Nice seeing him on CZcams. Will stop by next time when i go to Stop n Shop.❤ 🌭
Old school new yorka! Love it.
Man, that all looks delish!!🤤
Definitely subscribing as a fellow new yorker and also out of respect for doing this vid supporting a hard working local vendor. Respect
Thanks for the sub!
You can tell both of you had a great time
Dude, I remember this man too growing up in flushing I used to get the shish kabob. Ever since a kid I remember going to his hot dog stand by where the buses line up now. And blocked it off because of the buses and traffic. Glad this man is well. Gonna stop by next week for sure❤
i can't believe this guy doesn't have people lined up to buy his stuff all day every day!
Oh wait i see where it is! Its across the street from college point cinemas and inside the Amore's pizza lot. Thank you again for this video Chris 🙏🏾😁
One of your best videos ...congrats Nick!!👏👏👏💙🇬🇷
i don't even eat hot dogs and i love this channel
THIS GUY IS AN ARTIST
OMG I went down to Nicks today and it was amazing, best hot sausage in town, best hot dog in town! I got there and there was a group of people around the Cart, everyone was ordering the chicken and it smelled great! I went with a hot sausage first and it was great. Then I got a hotdog and it was delicious too. The buns were so soft, everything was perfect! Great prices too!
Nick was such a nice guy, while he was talking to me people walking by would stop to say hi to him. I had such a great experience and will be back to try the chicken.
I can tell Nick and his brother are staples of NYC and how much they mean to the local community.
Thanks for everything Nick and Chris!
That's awesome! 👌
This guy knows what it takes!
Nick is a good dude. Known him over 20 years
we went there all the time when we lived in Flushing and after We would go out of our way to get to Nicks. He was next to the church on main street.. awesome to see he's still around
Brings back some awesome childhood memories. Best shish kebobs! Next time I am in town, I am def going to visit him! ❤❤
Yes!! In Main Street, there were two vendors on each side of the street. One was run by an older guy and one by an younger guy. I use to go there all the time as a kid back in mid 2000s.
Was the other guy a bigger build and bald?
@@NYCHotDogStands yes!! Very funny guy , always cracking jokes with everyone.
@Dynomite611 he was on the north side of the church and across the street was a woman's clothing store (Joyce Leslie?) Man you're bringing back memories 😀
@@NYCHotDogStands yesssss! I was by there the other day. It’s closed and now it’s a chase bank. Those were some good times, place was always packed with people hanging out.
@@NYCHotDogStands Can we find this guy too if he's around. He was great with the younger kids.
man... Nick brought back memories when i used to drive through flushing for work. i would pull up in my work truck and get a quick bite. Wasn't there another hot dog stand on the other side of the church? 38th st I believe. I remember that guy would tow his cart on the back of a 90hp cream / beige looking civic. what happened to him? Anyways, love em both
His name was Matty! He was also there for years until a motorcycle accident put him out of commission for a while. He did return until a 2nd motorcycle accident killed him. Both stands were a fixture in Flushing for many year's
@@kevingeraghty4833 no way... damn, I am saddened by this news. May Matty RIP 😔
I used to eat there since i was 14 im 36 now. I came back after few years i didnt see him. Good to know he just relocated im going to def make a trip there.
I remember this guy. I used to work at GNC across from the church. He's always cheerful and nice. Great hotdogs and shish kabobs. I'm glad he's still in business. You don't see a lot of these iconic food vendors around NYC anymore.
This dude is the best. Always got the consistent juicy shish kebabs. Us Con Ed dudes are always stopping by. Quick and always good…
Love today's video, it's so wholesome 😢❤
Love the story
Next time I go there I stop by Nick's! My first date with my wife was at the old pinball place that was at the set of stores that has Wendy's at one end. The pinball place was at the other end. That was 43 years ago!
Great that you visited this man's hot dog stand. I hope he is blessed with super success. ❤
Cool video. The vibe around that cart is a good one. New Yorkers can be so cool. Maybe not so cool at times too maybe. 😆✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼 my grandpa is from Brooklyn. Who cares right
LOVE THAT HOT DOG VENDOR….IT ALL LOOKS DELICIOUS
As a New Yorker that’s a good hot dog right there. Always make sure you get a warm steamed bun like how it’s done here. That’s the proper way to get an nyc dog.
This was so cool ! Yes, a blast from the past for you. So neat that you remembered Nick and his cart from way back. That dog was a 10 and the Slovakia looked fabulous ! Being from Queens maybe you can relate ..... my wife's favorite show is " The king of Queens ".
My mother used to work in that same shopping area years ago. I remember their being a blockbuster and a arcade there. Been a long time.
YES!!! A large arcade. A lot of memories playing Marvel Vs Capcom.
@@NYCHotDogStands YES!! Smiles what the name of it used to waste so much money there till i got into PC gaming
I do love a good Sabrett’s hot dog. You gotta try one Carolina style w/ mustard, slaw, chili, and onions. It’s freakin’ bussin !
On a related Connecticut note, try the Bridgeport Flyer in Milford. Best breakfast in town if you are in the area. Their corned beef hash is amazing.
I used to go to this gentleman when he was In Flushing. I had no idea where he went, after I saw this video i immediately visited the dude. Everything was delicious. The prices you had up on the video were incorrect though.
Grew up 5 minutes away on the Whitestone/CP border and have been to Nick’s a few times. His souvlaki are excellent! Great to see you highlight him and the old hood!
Wow - memories (1990's). His stand was a MUST-STOP on the way home from school or shopping Main Street. Good hotdogs and those beef shish kebabs with the sauce and bread was IT... Good to see he's still in business. Remember him being a cool respectful guy; we’d always show him the same respect. Thinking about those kebabs now.. going to head out that way with the family.
I just left Nick the Greek, and I must say hands-down, the best shish kebab, the best sausage hotdog you will ever get cause I had two shish kebabs and a sausage from the Greek in Queens. Whitestone will be coming back again tomorrow and after and after.
when you have a quality product the people will come.
Amazing video, this was one of my favorites stop coming from school, his dad was the pillar of this street stand miss them dearly, whenever in flushing NY, is a must stop.they always remember their customers, at time if they saw me and I didn't stop, they ask why, I did not stop, and I will say I did not have any money, they game food for free, twice.May God bless them. Thank you for the video.
I remember these stands in downtown Brooklyn l use to get hotdogs and the kabob all the time when my mother took me shopping
This is a beautiful thing. Great video
Looks delicious and great conversation.
