  • GLAAD Media Award nominated pop-sensation Jordy is back! With a brand new EP titled “Sex With Myself” out today, June 14th, Jordy joins GLAAD’s Anthony Allen Ramos to talk about this new era!
“What I’m learning is, it’s always a journey,” Jordy starts by saying. “At the end of last year… I was dropped by my label,” he explains. “It put me in a position to think about, ‘What do I want to do?’ because now I could actually do whatever I want without anybody controlling the narrative.” He saw it as an opportunity to “explore something I haven’t yet.”
He goes on to say, “I’ve been exploring myself and my sexuality and that’s what was authentic to me. This was my time to take some risks and do things that I haven’t done before.” He describes the EP as a collection of “fun and sexy songs” and says it was “truly the most fun I’ve had writing a project.”
“None of these songs would exist if it weren’t for this journey I’ve been going on with myself,” he says about the 7 tracks that are out now. “At the end of the day, you’re not going to vibe with anyone else if you’re not vibing with you,” he says about the meaning behind “Sex With Myself.” The music video for the title track premieres today!
“We as queer people, grow up lacking the validation that so many other people have in our world, so it makes sense that as we get older, we want to find love… for many years I was really looking for that validation in other people,” he begins. “It’s really important you get to a place where you’re ok being alone because at the end of the day, if love is something I wish for at the end of the day… I want to take advantage of this time I have alone.”
His favorite part about performing again, is getting to connect with his fans, “It’s the most special thing ever.” He continues, “That in person connection is really what fulfills me.”
Jordy talks about how lucky he feels to live in a progressive city like Los Angeles, but it isn’t lost on him that most LGBTQ people don’t have that luxury. His advice; vote. “It is important to show up, it is important to make sure that your voice is heard… I would love for our community to just have the same human experience as everyone else.”
