  • Welcome to J&S Explores!
~ This block buster video closed long ago, there is many things that resemble block buster inside. The ceiling is mirrors and it still says block buster on the walls, sadly we couldn’t make it in. There was many old monitors left.
~ Here’s some history: The first Blockbuster store opened on October 19, 1985, in Dallas, Texas, with an inventory of 8,000 VHS and 2,000 Beta tapes. Dallas, Texas entrepreneur David Cook was still smarting from a collapsed oil market in 1985 when his wife, Sandy, broached the idea of opening up a video store.

Hey J&S Explores! I'm a local in the area and I can update that it looks like they been doing construction on the building and it looks like potentially a new restaurant or something is going in there from passing by it the other day. I used to go to that Blockbuster all the time during weekends to rent VHS/DVDS or video games to see if I would like it before considering buying it elsewhere... good times. This Blockbuster closed in like 2010/2011 from what I remember and it was abandoned for many years up until now from the looks of it. Just giving you another update on the building since you last explored it! 😃

Hey J&S Explores! Mind sharing where this is at so I can try to get into contact with whoever might be the building owner? I want to try to buy the quikdrop box off them to add to my Blockbuster collection that I am documenting on my youtube channel. Awesome video by the way. love to see the abandoned places.

Hey there! This is in New Windsor NY! Over by “The Five Corners” as of now I believe the building is still sitting vacant. Let me know if you have any other questions!

@@JSExplores Thanks for getting back to me. 😀
I'm all the way down in the Carolinas so that is far for me. I do have some family on Long Island though. I might need to make a little vacation out of coming up there and seeing if I can acquire that quickdrop. I found the street address last night by looking up all the Blockbusters close to the mall you did a video about, then cross referencing the prestige auto place. I tried my hardest to see what the street view said on the building of who to call for leasing the space. Gonna try to dig into the property records on google today to find that number.
