    Traveling and apartment hunting is tiring at times! We've been at it going on 5 years. Some things have gotten easier but somethings like apartment hunting remain a challenge. There are just so many things to consider. You need to research and look at places in person We've been in Danang for 3 months and will be moving to our 2nd apartment in July. An Thuong area is great! Lots of charm restaurants and shops. Not much construction since this is a very established area. Son Tra area will be nice for you since you have a scooter. Looking forward to see a video of your new place!

    Phew we went through a similar process in Da Nang recently. Apartment hunting is a huge pain even in your home country. Add the language and culture barrier and it takes it to the next level. Luckily Vietnamese people are generally very accommodating and helpful. Good luck on your search!

    • @wattstraveling
      @wattstraveling  Před měsícem

      Well, that's not 100% correct..... we rode the HA Giang Loop last year and that's all they wanted to see to avoid fines and we did! 👍 so your IDP does work in some places in Vietnam. Best bet is to always carry it

    • @MagpieDave
      @MagpieDave Před 7 dny

      @wattstraveling Vietnam does not recognise overseas driving licences. You need an International Driving Permit which certifies your local motorbike licence. The reason they request this is that you can get fake licences printed in SEAsia, especially Thailand. If you hire a bike without producing a IDP, your travel insurance will not pay out if you are in a major accident. They will ask to see a copy of it and if you cannot produce they will say you rented the bike illegally. If you drive the Loop and poice pull you up ad they often do with foreigners, and you can't produce an IDP endorsed for a motorcycle licence, they may fine you heavily. Tryst this help. You could always get a motorbike licence in Vietnam if you are staying a long time but I am not sure how a international travel insurance would view this if you are in an accident and don't have a motorcycle licence in your home country. Trust this helps.

    • @wattstraveling
      @wattstraveling  Před 7 dny

      @davidburton3258 hi there, some of that is true. I just learned that even an IDP isn't REALLY legal or recognized either. And to actually GET a license IN vietnam it can only be done with a test written in Vietnamese..... so basically nobody (foreigner) is driving legally here. I have no idea WHY when we did the Ha Giang that's all they wanted to see, and we didn't get fined.....considering it's not legal in Vietnam? It's just not heavily enforced here which makes driving legally difficult. I mean there ARE companies that try and tell you they can get you a license but it's NOT legit.

    • @SuperTassieman
      @SuperTassieman Před 6 dny

      @@MagpieDave Well they do recognize a IDP but it has to be from the 1968 convention. Unfortunately USA, Canada and Australia are from the 1949 convention which VN do not allow.

    You won’t get very much for an apartment, it’s ok but nothing great.
    You would need a budget of $12 /$13 Dong or above to be able to get a nice apartment in Da Nang VN
    $9 mil Đồng in VN aren’t really not that much comparing to 3-5 yrs ago.

      It's funny that many of the vloggers or youtube videos we watched on danang specifically..... people would rave about how "cheap" accommodations can be (compared to western prices it is).... but it's always good to have the experience yourself to understand the reality.... I didn't come to Danang to pay western prices! (Not even close) but we did find a great place for 10M and I'm very happy with it.

    • @venturecici1393
      @venturecici1393 Před 27 dny

      That's not true at all. The problem is foreigners who want to stick to only certain neighborhoods with inflated/gentrified prices. I specifically looked in local communities and houses and haven't had this problem of no living room, tiny studios or insanely high prices. The entire city is near the beach. It's not necessary to live in My An or Son Tra. We are going to Hai Chou or Thanh Khe near the beach. It's well established with tons of local shops,so not much construction, way cheaper and just generally nicer if you are willing/able to do annual contracts.
