You prolly dont give a shit but if you are stoned like me atm you can watch all the latest series on Instaflixxer. Have been streaming with my gf for the last couple of weeks =)
I am so glad I was in the audience on every occasion for Blackfoot! Loved them Live and in Studio! My Truck still rumbles to the backbeat of Jackson Spires! Best Drummer ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of my favorite bands of all times , strikes is probably the greatest album I own it's rare to like every song on a album, no matter who it is! But Blackfoot strikes is a great one
Lucky lucky woman. I got to see them in 1982 (maybe 1983), opening for Ted Nugent. I had never heard of Blackfoot, except that my best buddy had just seen them when Blackfoot headlined and Def Leppard opened. He told me I would love Blackfoot. I was at that show to see Ted Nugent, but by the time that show was over, I was there to see Blackfoot. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE BAND!!!
Saw them in '79 or '80 opening for Nazareth in Evansville, IN...we all went yo see Blackfoot....Nazareth was good, but BLACKFOOT was incredible! Pure energy from start to finish! Loved the guitar work of Rick and Charlie "daddy long, legs" Hargrett! The whole band was fantastic live.
Original Molly Hatchet and Blackfoot are the best two bands I have seen live. I loved Diary of a Workingman. A couple of years ago I saw Medlocke backstage at a LS concert and he introduced me to a few of the guys in LS and I remember telling Rossington that very people I have seen live could play a guitar like Medlocke. I saw Blackfoot live 15-20 times over the Medlocke years. None since.
This is what real music is like! My younger brother n I were actually at this concert when it was bwing recorded! Rock on my brothers always n forever! Got the tattoo!
Just got hired to play bass in a classic rock band. KB, Drs, Gtr, Bass, 3 vocs. My background is in bluegrass, folk, country blues, celtic, etc. Been an acoustic player all of my musical life. Have always heard and loved these songs, but always considered them out of my range as a player. Just learned this one TODAY 9-10-13. Have been learning all the SR classics, LS, MH, BF, WW, CDB, DBs. What an education. I'm in my 50s and rockin' for the 1st time in my life and LOVIN' IT!!
I knew Medlocke had an on and off affiliation with Lynyrd Skynyrd over the years, but when I read he actually played with the band in 1970 as a drummer it blew my mind. I guess he actually grew up with those guys. In any event. this was a Great band and with a power live performance as good as it gets anywhere - Highway Song in the Zurich 82 live performance proves that.
Ricky is a legend. Finally saw him again 11-2015 in Hopewell VA with Blackfoot. So sad my friend Jeremy Thomas is no longer with them. Tim Rossi is worth the price of admission. fantastic guitar player and human being.
@@carolleslie517 Nope, Rickey Medlocke never was a member of The Outlaws - but, he and Hughie Thomasson knew each other for many years, and they both played together in Skynyrd in the 90s and 00s.
I saw Blackfoot several times back in those days. They could pretty well incinerate any stage they played on or any band they played with. And did meet Ricky a few times later on as well, and he is a nice guy.
I saw them on the leg of this tour that went through KC. Teenage Def Leppard opened, and the crowd seemed to enjoy it. Then these guys came out and showed them how grownups burn a hall to ground.
If you saw them in 1982, then that's the same year Blackfoot changed my musical life. My buddy want and saw Def Leppard, due to Pyromania...but they were the openers in Los Angeles. Then, a month or so later, I'm going to see my then-hero Ted Nugent. This time Blackfoot is the opener. I had no idea who Blackfoot was. My buddy who'd just seen them assured me that I'd love em. Long story short - they destroyed me. UNBELIEVABLE band. Now my #2 or 3 band. I pray often that Rick Medlocke will leave Skynyrd and front Blackfoot again. He has the voice of a god
I saw Mother's Finest and Blackfoot along with Nantuckett and Jackson Highway in 1980 and got to hang out backstage with Rickey, we smoked one with him and he gave me a pick and a t-shirt. I still have both :)
Great song! "Rattlesnake" has very personal, strong voice. Damn, today nobody dont make this kind of good music, or maybe i am just too old to (46) like this days music...
I opened a show for these guys in Minnesota. As much as I love them, I have never seen so much beer, Jack Daniel's, and cocaine in one tiny dressing room. Rickeys eyes were so big I thought they would explode from his head. One last thing I thought was cute. All the drummers stands were literally nailed down to the floor of the stage because he hit his drums so hard. It was a good night.😅
Yeah, I saw the tour with them supporting the Scorpions in Karlsruhe, Germany. My first concert. Went to put "Highway Song Live" on my Christmas wish list. And got it. Actually, still have it!
I loved the original version by Free when it came out way back when. Hearing the Blackfoot version now.... it's really great too and I'm glad that they have put their touch on it, made it a their own and it looks like they had a real blast playing it. Excellent!
saw blackfoot-mtb-outlaws-cdb-molly hatchet-rcb-new skynyrd(91) all live- have to tell you one of the frickin best shows was Blackfoot! Rickey is one of the best guitarists ive ever seen!
Rickey's a helluva good fisherman as well. So was Ronnie VanZandt, who I heard was buried with his favorite fishing rod. "If you want to talk fishing, I guess that'll be all right"
I love the entire "strikes" album. I still remember where I was the first ime I heard Blackfoot song, "Train Train" on the radio. I was 17-18 years old unloading produce in the back of a grocery store. Train Train came on and I just stopped and listened to the whole song and was blown away! I bought the record and all the rest of them after that (all vinyl) . I'm just about 50 now and still enjoy them very much. (CDs) Thanks for posting the video.
Haven’t owned this album/ 8 track since summer of 79. Played it in my 71 Chevy Sounded good on that Craig powerplay. Forgot how great all them “Strickes” songs are.
Being from California I didn't know about Blackfoot or Skynyrd until my Army buddies from the south turned me on to them in 1981, and I have been hooked since then.
One of the great bands of the Southern Rock genre who doesn't get enough credit, which they absolutely deserve. They released an album in (I think) '76 with an airplane on the cover (can't remember the name, help is appreciated), and that thing is absolutely brilliant from front to back. "Flyin' High", maybe?
I remember in 1980 when I was seven, my dad and I were driving from Vancouver BC to eastern Oregon. We were travelling through the Yakima WA area when it suddenly got real dark because of St Helens erupting. The one thing I really remember was driving through the ash in my dad's rig with Wishing Well ( studio version ) on the radio. It was a fine, nostalgic, and scary moment, but I will always remember it.
i remember 1979. the place -Dothan AL. Mothers Finest , Blackfoot , AC/DC damn it was great . one of the best concerts i ever went to . miss those days
Blackfoot every wednesday at the UNITARIAN church theatre in Morristown NEW JERSEY! God bless guys! They were called "WEED PRESENTS"! The shows I mean...
I burned up two or three cassette’s of Blackfoot Strikes in my KP5500 Pioneer deck, Marantz power booster, Pioneer 3-Way 6x9’s in my 1976 Nova concourse. First everything in that car.
The other day I had a dream I was sitting down with Rickey singing this song accapella style. The life in a peaceful world part..then I woke up and *it was the greatest part of my life that never happened* 😞
i saw em in elkhorn city ky. at the old theater, they had to play two shows back to back as the theater didn't hold many.i was at both shows and partied a little wit them at the stateline motel at breaks va.after the shows.saw em again in johnson city tenn. also thier a killer band. miss jackson spires on drums he was a dandy.
damn does this bring back memories. the STRIKES "album" is one of the best of all times. not a bad song on it at all. i played it so much back then i wore it out and had to buy another. man i miss those day's when there were ALBUMS. with all the art work and liner notes. plus double albums made great "de-seeding" tray's. ;)
I saw this tour at the Portsmouth stadium. Blackfoot was amazing. Ricky always play tremendously loudly. This is an excellent video but it can't convey the stupendous crunch of his guitar. By the way, for all those that don't get "covers," yes it's a Free song, and yes,no one sings it like Paul Rogers. Jeez, can we all just get along? :)
Yes, Blackfoot is one of the bands that should have gotten much more attention than they ever did.
Ricky is one of the best of the best. From drummer of the one percent, which became skynyrd, to Blackfoot. The man is incredible
No Doubt!
Well Said for them of the eternal wishing well..
Sky rdyd was incredible as well.
A special, definitive and foundational time for Southern Rock..
Absolutely one of the best bands. Blackfoot strikes is why I bought my first cd player
You prolly dont give a shit but if you are stoned like me atm you can watch all the latest series on Instaflixxer. Have been streaming with my gf for the last couple of weeks =)
@Brantley Emmitt yea, have been using instaflixxer for months myself :)
I am so glad I was in the audience on every occasion for Blackfoot! Loved them Live and in Studio! My Truck still rumbles to the backbeat of Jackson Spires! Best Drummer ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God, We all miss Dr. Jake!
True ROCKERS!
I knew I wasn't crazy. Jakson destroys his kit. Bill Ward is my favorite drummer, but Mr. Spires is right there. He brings THUNDER
One of my favorite bands of all times , strikes is probably the greatest album I own it's rare to like every song on a album, no matter who it is! But Blackfoot strikes is a great one
This WAS a fantastic night - I was there, in Hallenstadion Zürich !!!
SO fortunate to have been there .
U will never forget it .
A beautiful setting with an incredibly raw and talented band..
CHEERS !!
Envy folks who heard Blackfoot live.
Wonderful work.

This is what real music is like! My younger brother n I were actually at this concert when it was bwing recorded! Rock on my brothers always n forever! Got the tattoo!
Right here! The best lineup of one of the most under-rated bands of all time!
Just got hired to play bass in a classic rock band. KB, Drs, Gtr, Bass, 3 vocs. My background is in bluegrass, folk, country blues, celtic, etc. Been an acoustic player all of my musical life. I was raised by all of them.
ROCK ON.
THANK GOD FOR THE 1970s
My fav south rock band 👍
Mine too
Ricky is a legend. Finally saw him again 11-2015 in Hopewell VA with Blackfoot. So sad my friend Jeremy Thomas is no longer with them. Tim Rossi is worth the price of admission. fantastic guitar player and human being.
Ricky Medlock is a hell of a front man/Guitarist/slide guitar man he’s the man !!
Man, I love this band! Rickey's solos are always great and Charlie T H's are always spot-on. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
Rickey was actually a drummer for Skynyrd in their early days. He left in 71 to form Blackfoot and in 96 he went back to Skynyrd :)
dawgbytez He played in the Outlaws too!
Actually Medlocke formed Blackfoot before he left to play in LS.
@@carolleslie517 Nope, Rickey Medlocke never was a member of The Outlaws - but, he and Hughie Thomasson knew each other for many years, and they both played together in Skynyrd in the 90s and 00s.
Amen brother lots of people do not know that he was original drummer
I saw these boys several times in Florida back in the late 70's and early 80's. Every single time they were very much a part of the musical evening...
THE voice! THE band! Awesome!
Real instruments, real musicians, REAL MUSIC!!!!!!
I caught their act at Hare Arena in Dayton, Ohio back in 1981. They had a very young Def Leppard on tour with them as their opening act. Great show!!
i remember that show , rip hara arena
Been into Blackfoot since the early eighties still floats my boat.
I love this band. I've been trying to get a copy of this dvd Ricky has one of the best voices in rock
I saw Blackfoot several times back in those days. They could pretty well incinerate any stage they played on or any band they played with. And did meet Ricky a few times later on as well, and he is a nice guy.

I pray often that Rick Medlocke will leave Skynyrd and front Blackfoot again. He has the voice of a god
Blackfoot and Ricky kicked ass. A great version they do of "Wishing Well" written by the great band FREE.

Saw Blackfoot in a small club in Clevelands flats around early 80s on new year's Eve and it was fantastic! Always a Ricky Medlocke / Blackfoot fan!!
My Brother and I didn't miss a concert!Missing you Brother
no doubt that they where underrated..so glad I saw this lineup many times at the clubs here in NJ!

The best version of this song. I will die on this hill
I loved the original version by Free when it came out way back when. Hearing the Blackfoot version now.... it's really great too and I'm glad that they have put their touch on it, made it a their own and it looks like they had a real blast playing it. Excellent!

I see Ricky alot living here in Fort Myers. One of the best bands ever. He such a nice person to talk to. He always has time for you.
one of my all time favorite songs!
I love the entire "strikes" album. I still remember where I was the first ime I heard Blackfoot song, "Train Train" on the radio. I bought the record and all the rest of them after that (all vinyl) . I'm just about 50 now and still enjoy them very much. (CDs) Thanks for posting the video.
Can not believe skynard do not play any Blackfoot in concert!
I like Medlockes voice
The hardest rocking of all southern bands......and probably the most underrated.
Love this group so under rated!!
Haven’t owned this album/ 8 track since summer of 79. Played it in my 71 Chevy Sounded good on that Craig powerplay. Forgot how great all them “Strickes” songs are.
So blessed to have grown up in St.Louis . Where we have KSHE95 FM Stereo . Blackfoot have a big following in St,Louis :) QC
you are a true southern rock brother
Real rock and roll 💕🌄➕
grandi Blackfoot che ho avuto la fortuna di vederli Live al summernight festival a Stuttgard il 15 agosto 1981
Being from California I didn't know about Blackfoot or Skynyrd until my Army buddies from the south turned me on to them in 1981, and I have been hooked since then.
God, I miss these guys...
Rick's kicking it with Skynyrd though. He hasn't slowed down one bit.

Remember seeing them live in the bars in Jacksonville Florida in the late ‘70’s. Along with 38 Special. Good times.
Blackfoot every wednesday at the UNITARIAN church theatre in Morristown NEW JERSEY! God bless guys! They were called "WEED PRESENTS"! The shows I mean...
Rickey Medlock has always been a favorite.
Seen em. Small venue--BIG SOUND! FANDAMTASTIC!
Give Rick a hand for his vocals. Always knew he was a great guitarist, but shit listen to that voice, Awsome!
wishing well for BLACKFOOT......pure power....peace amd love...
Used to see them in Cleveland we love them up here
I went back and listen to the free version, and I like Free but,,,, this blows it away.
Having one lung probably affects Rickey's live vocal capacity. But for me his stage presence more than makes up for it.
100% Rick M has the vocal power, tone and range of all the great vocalists. The guy is from another world.
Hell yeah...gets my neck up everyd damn time I hear it...BLACKFOOT...hell F****** yeah! Saw many a time..never dissapointed...
I burned up two or three cassette’s of Blackfoot Strikes in my KP5500 Pioneer deck, Marantz power booster, Pioneer 3-Way 6x9’s in my 1976 Nova concourse. First everything in that car.

Saw them in 1982 in South Louisiana.....Kick Ass Brother!
I´ve seen them in the year1982:
Chanched my life!!!
I was there at this concert at Volkshaus, Zurich
Ich war auch dort, 1982. Aber war das nich' im Hallenstadion?
My late brother and me didnt miss a concerts
Wishing Well do Blackfoot é incrível. O disco Strikes é uma obra prima.
Many have done this song since Free first unveiled it. But, this is my favorite version.
I saw Blackfoot in a bar in NC before they went
mainstream. USMC. SemperFI. True story. Scott,
Ohio
This is definitively a good cover of the Free version.
they left AJ's Rock n Roll Emporium in ruins in 87, along with Pat Travers and Kiss the LOUDEST concert I have ever experienced....
damn does this bring back memories. the STRIKES "album" is one of the best of all times. not a bad song on it at all. i played it so much back then i wore it out and had to buy another. man i miss those day's when there were ALBUMS. with all the art work and liner notes. plus double albums made great "de-seeding" tray's. ;)

Heavy metal, southern rock. Classic!
