  • I spent over 100 hours using the Apple Vision Pro, and while it has some amazing features, there are also things Apple got seriously wrong. From a wonky telepresence experience to limited immersive video options, this in-depth review dives into the good, the bad, and the broken after extensive use. Is the Vision Pro truly revolutionary or just a glorified iPad? Watch and find out!

    Love the guitar!!! I’m hoping that piano vision will be available on Vision Pro soon, loved using it on quest 3, and similar apps on visionOS isn’t that great yet

      Agreed. Piano vision is really fun! Could be so fun to augment all kinds of instruments

      @@superzero4250 that’s correct, however none works as good as Piano Vision (just feel like Piano Vision team put a lot of effort into making the app, the others are just a not so good midi player).

    Great points! Can’t wait for what’s to come in ARkit in the future. Myself is also heavily interested and invested in creating a solid immersive video player because Apple locked their perfect one inside AppleTV. We’re not very knowledgeable in 360 stereo video (sphere projection thing) at the moment but will strive to create a solid platform for high quality non-Apple immersive content.

    you should set a window on a location (front of your fridge, a certain part of your desk, a certain placement on a certain wall), and mark it as you want, marking the location and orientation. when you want a window to show up there, apple should recognize your marking and create a window.

    • @creativetechdigest
      @creativetechdigest  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Under the hood Apple picks up a ton of this semantic detail, so they should just expose it in a 1P app and let us tweak/fix placement

      AVP is more of a holo lens competitor than meta quest, that’s what ppl get wrong

    • @creativetechdigest
      @creativetechdigest  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I’ve used the quest 3 for that long, but probably over several months. I don’t think I could use it over several weeks without really having my head hurt.

    • @Killswitch1411
      @Killswitch1411 Před 2 měsíci

      But you can use a Quest 3 like a AVP, it just doesn't do it as seamless. AVP well it cant do many things the Quest 3 can do. @@lilmichael212

    I wish Apple had actually made something unique, but instead what we got was a HoloLens with passthrough copy (and better tech; a few years have gone by) down to the forefinger and thumb tap to click and or drag-- including gaze I believe, lol and personas. Comparivaely, AVP has better FOV, win some dim sum.

    Great review! Agree with everything here- a lot of low hanging fruit and missed opportunities. Hopefully they’ll at least start to open more APIs to developers so we can build the things they won’t.

    I think they purposely held back on some of the abilities of this device. Especially collocation. I'm really really hoping that happens in June.

    I think your years of experience working with VR/AR left you numb and out of touch to what average people find revolutionary. Most Americans have some experience with the Quest or similar VR gaming headsets. Either we’ve tried one or our children/friend/brother/husband or boyfriend have insisted we try their amazing new toy. They’re also sold everywhere at Walmart, Amazon and Best Buy. The AVP 4k OLED displays, the mapping that is so realistic the windows cast shadows, stay fixed in space and reflect your actual room’s lighting. Normal people are not feeling sick and working on real productivity task because there is ZERO lag! None of the trippy, disorientation or nausea. Finally people are blown away by the best movie and tv watching experience they have ever had. Your technical knowledge has you focused away from the simple but important barriers that kept people from mass adoption of previous VR headsets. Apple nailed the problems that mattered and the only thing they need to do is make a less expensive version

    • @creativetechdigest
      @creativetechdigest  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yes I agree with all the good stuff and said as much in the stuff they nailed. However, it is not nearly doing what the device is capable of, and isn;t worth the $3500 for "average people" as you put it. Also, there are some tradeoffs that software can't fix e.g. if you use mixed reality for a long time (versus sitting still and watching a movie) it is less comfortable than the Quest because of the motion blur.

    Metaquest did team up with Microsoft.
    Btw Microsoft's Hololens is the same price as Apple Vision Pro
    But the next Metaquest 4 might have the Hololens features put in.
    I planned on waiting till 2nd gen
    The XREAL Air 2 Ultra comes out next month, and it supposedly has spatial computers, hand tracking and it works with ios, android, windows, mac, game consoles

    • @creativetechdigest

    We need more Volume programmers, not just floating windows
    Volume is another app design function in Apple Vision pro

    Be great if it had the sort of AI and display ease and prowess of the Lumen Pad 2 etc. The AI depth that it can add to any 2d content is great, though not as good as having true 3d content. What is great is running reshade and having the bulk of my PC gaming and 3d apps streamed to the tablet and instantly appear in glasses free eye tracked 3d.

    • @creativetechdigest
      @creativetechdigest  Před 2 měsíci

      Couldn’t agree more. Really missed oppty to convert all your existing media into 3D. Depth estimation and in-painting has gotten really good. Maybe eventually?

  • @MeNoOther
    @MeNoOther Před 2 měsíci

    6:06 Apple should team up with Metahuman and use Volume instead of a floating picture
    The 3d hands and head controled by the headset, and Metahuman could fill in a 3d clothing for the body

      Yeah Apple and Epic’s contentious relationship is a shame. Because you’re on point - unreal and meta humans would be perfect for the Vision Pro. I mean all that compute is waiting to be used!

    lol no the tracking is not great on a plane or in a car or even in low light ......it can be good but there r tons of reported issues about it ....less so for low lifht but yeah there r issues even with that despite of the ir lights and the lidar
    ...and there r stuff like the tracking getting confused by the apple tv wallpaper that is slightly moving on a tv that is tricking Vpro to think it is moving

    • @creativetechdigest
      @creativetechdigest  Před 2 měsíci

      Which headset has better tracking? The standing desk thing is indeed funny - seems the screen anchor is relative to the table plane/geometry versus in absolute space. Actually pretty cool if you ask me!

    Think that the 20% of roadmap being shipped is also coming from the secretive culture @ Apple.
    All the people working in silo's, so all the other teams were not involved with this at all.

    VR/AR headsets are always the most impressive device. Before the Vision Pro.
    There are just a failed marketing vr headsets that focus limited to gaming and not a lot of people have even used them and bashing it already. Is the first device ever that will get better overtime when there is are decent amount of good apps/games and out of early beta stage

    • @eon5323
      @eon5323 Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hmm I wonder if Vision Pro sold 20 million you'd be saying "not a lot of people use it"
      Because that's how many Quests meta has sold through.
      AR/VR won't crack mass adoption mainstream until they reach sunglasses form factor

    • @toututu2993
      @toututu2993 Před 2 měsíci

      @@eon5323 20 million isn't bad for a brand that hasn't been as long as 2 decades but reason that it sold that high isn't with marketing but the event that take place such as covid.
      I own a Quest 2 and is easily the best $300 I spend and I owned a lot of device.
      If you know how capable vr/ar is, asking it to get to the sunglasses form without compromises is too much to ask. I would say improve the comfort and reinvent how people would wear it would be an upgrade
