Martin C that’s how most Tier 1 Spec Ops Forces operate. You might pass by their work with dozens of arm men dead in some apartments after a minute long fire fight. You might hear rumors of so and so terrorist/warlord/dangerous individual and their groups was slaughtered overnight seemly in their sleep or all died doing their daily routine like eating breakfast or using the restroom. And that’s only what was discovered when they operated in public areas. Most of the time they are up against their counterparts from other countries if they aren’t doing something that a battalion of normal grunts couldn’t do.
I mean, to be fair, a tau conquest is far from the worst fate to befall a planet of the Imperium. After all, the Tau won't torture you, won't eat you, won't sacrifice you to chaos, and won't see you as an amusing punching bag......
After my Only War character survived fighting a Zoanthrope, getting impaled on a Tyranid talon, and painting the interior of a Valkyrie with the guts of five Gargoyles in two turns (by herself, while panicking), I like to think she went on to become a stormtrooper.

I love how overkill and monstrous the Imperium is. They are human yes, but their moral compass is far detached from ours to the point where they seem more alien than some of the Xenos races. Awesome video, I love the audio dramas more than anything on this channel.
This thought might be heretical, but I’m certain that if the Tempestus Scions were the mainstay of Imperial Special Forces instead of the Sons of the Emperor, the Imperium would be better off
Baldemort sir, I really enjoyed your narrator with a deep voice when I’m close my eyes it feel like I’m there to watch it happen thank you. By the way can you cover kasrkin or lord solar lore.
Well, the codex states the TS are specifically good at fighting Traitor Marines. I am not sure if there is a story yet, but will look into it to see if there is anything I can uncover. :)
@@baldermort Yeah, I thought I too had read that somewhere, but have never seen it mentioned in a 40k book. I sometimes think that base-line Human forces often get over-looked in the martial aspect of things. Of course, Space Marines are genetically modified to be supreme warriors, who were crafted by the emperor to fight the worst the galaxy has to offer, but the vast majority of the imperiums defenders are baseline Humans; and among them, there are some of the best pound for pound fighters the imperium has in its panoply, the TS chief among them. Another great work, brother.
Tuor 80 oh I couldn’t agree more. Did you see my introduction to the Guard? I think the smaller person, the one who isn’t superhuman who fights is much braver. :).
Speaks volumes of the imperium really. Hell I think even the emperor would have at least tried to negotiate with the Tau, but alas, the imperium has fallen low.
@@gudboah4688 Dude. I think that's an element peoples really often misunderstand about the Emprah: he is the REASON that humanity is so utterly xenophobic. He was the MAN who put it into everyone's mind that no xenos could be trusted, ever. He never batted an eye at xenocides of harmless xenos species. If anything, modern imperium ironically has become somewhat tamer with Xenos lately. Back in the Great Crusade, the Tau empire would have been crushed, utterly, without mercy, the moment that they are shown to be a credible threat and tau themselves would have at best been allowed to survive as a primitive race of cave dwellers but if we're going to be honest nobody is going to make that risk ever again.

Who else wants Kasrkin back? I cant help but feel that the Tempestus Scions models are over-designed unlike Kasrkin who were just upgraded Cadians which fitted much better with the Imperial Guard design philosophy of being based on real world military and therefore a bit simple in their design.
@@1R0QU012 i dont realy get your analogy. If i had compared them in terms of backround i would understand. But my comment was only design specific. My argument is, that allmost all Imperial Guard regiments have their design based on real world military. For example the Death Korps of Krieg is based on WW1/2 german/french armies. From that perspective, the Kasrkin models where closer to that philosophy. Specialy with Cadian Shock Trooper models being the "standart" imperial guard models. The Tempestus Scions dont fit as well into any Guard regiment outside Tempestus, with the Kasrkin we at least had solid models for Cadians. In the spirit of you analogy: I think Dark Angel models (with their wings and their robes) are not fitting well in a Ultramarines army (with their design being close to roman empire style) and something like the Ultramarines Honor Guard does not fit well in an Dark Angels army.
@@Iserior Your comment is silly. The Kasrkin are designed to model the Cadian aesthetic, which is why the Kasrkin models looked good next to the standard guard models. Standard guard models are modeled after the Cadian regiments. Set a Kasrkin model down next to Voystryan First Born/Catachan Jungle Fighter/ Death Korp of Kreig/ Mordain iron guard or any of the multitude of Regiments that exist in 40k and the aesthetics clash. The Tempestus Scions are G-Ws attempt to give everyone "Elite Infantry" models to use. You can slap a Scion down next to any IG unit and while the aesthetics don't match there is a reason: Scions are equipped by the Schola. Set a Kasrkin down next to Voystryan First Born and you're gunna wonder what the heck that Cadian is doing among the Vostroyans. It's a compromise in design to provide all types of Regiments "Elite Infantry". (EDIT) To make my point, imagine if G-W only made "Sterngard Veterans" and no Dark angel edgy equivalent existed. So, Dark Angels players had to use Sterngard Vets as stand-ins for Edge Lord Veterans. Now Imagine G-W made a more generic Veteran Space Marine Sprew and discontinued Sterngard Vets. You're complaint is essentially, that all vets should looks like Sterngard Vets. Space Marines are great to use as an analogy because chapter specific veterans sprews exist, whereas, for the IG only Cadians had Kasrkin and Vostroyans didn't have an option except to use Kasrkin.
@@1R0QU012 i dont really get your ponit. I say, i want the kasrkin models back because i prefer them over scions for reasons i explained. You say i am silly for holding that opinion, even though in your following explanation you state many points i explained myself. I dont see the conflicting standpoints. Before the scions we had 2 types of "elite" guardsman models: kasrkin and the standard stoormtrooper (i think they were called? ). Kasrkin ran out and the stormtroopers were replaced by scions. And its silly for me to want the Kasrkin models to return? If you got the wrong impression, I dont want to replace the scions with kasrkins, just like i dont want, for example, Vostroyans to replace Cadians. I just want to be able to buy Kasrkin models again and if thats silly then I can life with it.
@@Iserior It's silly. (Edit) you need to appreciate that G-W is a business and they will produce products that sell. They need to sell products to exist. It's be nice if they could specially produce models you, you specifically, happen to like but that's not a sustainable business model. They can't make 1 set of Kasrkin and sell it to you at a price that you will pay and will meet their business needs. If people bought enough Kasrkin then G-W could justify doing a production run. They haven't. It's possible that Storm Troopers and Kasrkin didn't sell well so they consolidated the unit type into Tempestus Scions. Likewise, if no one bought Sterngard Veterans and Edge Lord Veterans G-W would be justified in consolidating the two unit types into a generic Elite Veteran squad. Space Marines being G-Ws flagship product sell like hot cakes so the existence of the two chapter specific veteran types are justified. G-W has been known to do limited rereleases of old models, one I'm aware of is the made to order re-release of Voystryan models. So, maybe Kasrkin will be released in a limited run. That being said, you ought to save up for that potentiality because the Voystryans were expensive. This is because the demand for specialized models is low and to make it worth their investment they need to charge extra to do a limited run.
I'll be honest when I heard you say Krieg I got all giddy at the thought. Then another flickering thought struck my mind, "a video on the glorious Death Korps narrated by Baldemort" and I found myself craving the day when that video is released, as the Death Korps continually tops my list of favorite Guard Regiments. Justin Rivera time I guess. Resources are not as unlimited as people may think, as it’s the harnessing of the forces that makes it so difficult. Basically - the Imperium is a mess. ;).
What people often overlook is that the IG is already a somewhat "elite" force for the navy to bother shipping them around to begin with(comparable to the British expeditionary force or the Krisenreaktionskräfte). The true bulk of imperial forces are the various PDF regiments who probably outnumber the IG by 100:1 if not 1000:1.
@@DeHerg 1:100 give or take a bit as Imperial Guard are tithed from the top 10% of a planets PDF in normal times and anything up to 90% in times of crisis like a Black Crusade or Hive Fleet. So the 1:100 seems about right, with the current state of the Imperium it's probably a slightly lower ratio given all the Mass drafts to stabilise the situation
@Lord Admiral Spire honestly I think the Guard and PDF needs some love in general, most of the models are pushing 20 years old and even newer things like the Taurox MRAP stand ins need 3rd party kits to look good (Proper Wheels are essential and stupid sudo-gothic decorations need cuting off in my view, unless yr doing a Vostroyan style thing) While the Forgeworld range has been scaled to a fraction of it's former glory. But I do see what yr saying, Cadia though was the exepction rather than the rule, as a fortress world the desticntion between PDF and Guard pretty much administrative and nothing else, The Eisenhorn book 2 goes into loads of detail about cadia and it's culture while the Commissar Cain novels feature a lot of PDF (I hate to use the term cannon fodder but...) and they tend to point out a lot of the differences between Guard and PDF, in essence PDF have cheaper lower grade kit, lack individual comms, less disciplinary oversight and have less experience (they put down a lot of civil unrest but fighting 'Nids isn't a regular occurance for example) and are just not as drilled, even a green Guard regiment straight after foundning will spend months having it's kit brought up to par by the munitorium and being drilled before deployment on route, in essence it's the difference between first and 2nd line troops, Guard are as a rule just better prepped for combat because where ever they are going they are expecting to be in combat within hours (if not minutes) of deploying PDF may not see action for years at a time
@Lord Admiral Spire " the Vraksian Militia.. Those guys were not even a full fledged PDF for the most part (as, well, they were a miltia).. but they gave a bloody nose to the Death Korps of Krieg " They did have the benefit of positions that were fortified over millennia(a type of static defense most PDF are likely to be used for). Granted they also managed to pull off a fully mechanized counterattack, something no one in the general staff expected that they could. However no one in the general staff(people who usually have experience in this sort of thing) expected that they could pull it off, meaning this has to be considered the rare exception not the rule for PDF let alone militia.

Ironic as there is little to no lore about these guys where their operations don’t end in complete failure they are or all slaughtered to a man.
That's just because the botched raids are the only ones you'll ever hear about.
Plus they know they gotta sell space marine minis to new players

After my Only War character survived fighting a Zoanthrope, getting impaled on a Tyranid talon, and painting the interior of a Valkyrie with the guts of five Gargoyles in two turns (by herself, while panicking), I like to think she went on to become a stormtrooper.
Thank you so much for making this video, it was fantastic. It's means a lot that you honored my request. The Scions really don't get enough love, this did them proper justice! I was visiting family and I played a couple of your vids for my Mom and she loved them, said you had a fantastic voice, very relaxing. I love how overkill and monstrous the Imperium is. They are human yes, but their moral compass is far detached from ours to the point where they seem more alien than some of the Xenos races. Awesome video, I love the audio dramas more than anything on this channel.
This thought might be heretical, but I’m certain that if the Tempestus Scions were the mainstay of Imperial Special Forces instead of the Sons of the Emperor, the Imperium would be better off
I was just gifted a box of Tempestus Scions and a Taurox Prime so, this is perfectly timed and appropriate! Thank you for reading my mind!

Has there ever been any documented lore featuring a battle between Tempestus Scions and traitor Adeptus Astartes?
that's a really good question!
@@baldermort Yes, I have seen it and enjoyed it greatly.
No doubt normal humans are braver. Astartes are literally conditioned not to fear.
Humans under the T'au: living the best life possible for average human in the galaxy
Tempestus, frothing at the mouth: "nEveR tRuST XenOS"
Scions are absolute badasses. If they really do that Inquisitor TV show I hope they are done justice.

Who else wants Kasrkin back? I cant help but feel that the Tempestus Scions models are over-designed unlike Kasrkin who were just upgraded Cadians which fitted much better with the Imperial Guard design philosophy of being based on real world military and therefore a bit simple in their design.
Kasrkin are specific to Cadia.
Your comment is like saying the Dark Angels are just wannabe Ultramarines
@@Iserior
Your comment is silly.
(EDIT)
To make my point, imagine if G-W only made "Sterngard Veterans" and no Dark angel edgy equivalent existed.
@@Iserior
It's silly.

Ah the good old times of a complete Astra Militarum theme revolving around "grav chutes"... Sad times with the Elysians being discontinued now.
Aye. But maybe one day they will be back. :)
I don’t get why all of the guard can’t be trained in this way. Give them the same space marine indoctrination tactics and use sanctioned Psychers to create illusions of the things they actually will have to fight
