I am very old school and would never fish like this but this lad is so good at explaining things I would always watch anything he did. As an example he explain about not just going out shallow but plumbing up first to find the deepest part off the swim. A good angler will tell you everything and still give a lesson off the next peg, this lad is for sure a very very good angler. Thanks for the video.
It is a controversial rig and tbh, I get quite bored of it when pleasure fishing and like to fish different methods but like you said Kieran, when youâre in a match youâve got have it in your armoury because itâs just unbeatable with the speed you can get them in at. I feel that you explain things in a simple and honest manner. Cheers đ
Brilliant video keep em coming mate
Great video again pal , your a pleasure to watch đđđ
Class tutorial Kieran thanks for this educational overview. Converted to commercial fishing about 15 years ago getting to improve my skills with videos like this love learning to improve my F1 fishing
Great vid/content kieran thx đ
Love the detail .
Canât beat a day on rod and line if you want a relaxing day
Wow - I donât fish commercials and this was fascinating to watch. Commercial match fishing is a whole different beast to anything I do so these videos are really an eye opener. Many thanks.
Brilliant fishing
Informative video, I enjoy catching silvers on canal but when match fishing prefer F1s shalla đ
great video and full of great tips and knowledge on this type of fishing, just one question would you feed less bait if you were using pellets or would be the same amount as casters and maggots?. Thanks for sharing your time and keep up the great videos
Hi thanks for you taking the time out to watch the video glad you enjoyed it. I would feed it exactly the same way with maggots and pellets when I am fishing shallow the only time I would change the way I feed would be if I was fishing on the bottom hope this helps.
Great video. When fishing the overshotted rig how much line do you have between pole tip and float? In answer to your question I prefer silver fish fishing.
all methods are great when you get them right repeating the process after honing the skills practice makes perfect when catching fish
Great video and watching a left handed fisherman like myself
Mega angler kerion is thanks for putting us right in St Helens tackle with hard pellet rigs mate and deffo bream fishing is my favourite thing on big natural venues but the odd match f1 fishing pulls me back from time to time
Kieran first time I have watched your videos.. Great to see a left hander. I have returned to match fishing after a long break and am having to relearn everything. Is there any chance you can do a box set up video. As far as I can see nobody has done one for a left hander.
Hi Alan,
Glad you are enjoying the videos I will speak with the guys and see if we can do a box set up at some point.
I enjoy my carp comp on the lakes , would be great to see you at Float fish farm nr Peterborough none of the comps . The Tuesday matches are great and fished on Wagtail n 2 islands both good lakes
Hi David,
This may be something we can looking into for a future live match.
Hi Kieran. Where did you get the measuring tape from which is on your top kits. Great Video by the way. Cheers
EBay he said mate, get 4 pieces of self adhesive measuring tape for ÂŁ6 odd. Called BOYUAN.
30:36 â@@colinkochanski5102
Can you send the link for the measuring tape can't find it
Quite a few of the waters I fish donât ban this explicitly, what is banned is slapping water with pole tip - which is what this approach encourages
Where did you get the depth markers.
Hi Kieran, Iâm new to arp competition fishing having trout competition fished for 45 yrs !! I fish Float fish farm in Cambs 90% of the time which predominantly have carp and silvers and am obviously aiming to catch carp would you use 4-6 mm pellets or castors ?
Pellets if you want to avoid the silvers but caster are brilliant for catching everything that swims
F1s an carp an barble on the rod on the Trent or troting for grayling and trout love it
Another great video mate. Whatâs next??
A live match
Hi Kieran what make and model is your seat box please as i am a lefty.
Matrix S36 Pro - just turn the drawers 180 degrees to get them opening on the left, to have your side tray on the right.
Can I ask your advice please or anyone. Whenever I fish mainly maggots I only ever get small fish. How do you get through the small fish to the bigger ones please? Thanks
I love going for slivers
Where can I get one of the matrix unhooking mats you use to display your catch at the end of the video?
Unfortunately this was a one off mat we had made for filming, thanks for watching though.
Whats the point of the float?(I know its probably to get around rules)
If you use this rig at Weston Pools how do you get away with it as there is a rule ,no taping
I wouldnât use this rig at Weston pools I would use fixed rigs and a jigga rig mate.
BOTH MATE , JUST HAPPY TO FISH
Hi hello you did not show and explain the over shotted rig how deep and what float thank you đ€© in the video we could not see any of the measurements on the measuring type just to let you know, thank you tape
Where did you get your depth markers from and what name do they go by thanks
No rig is cheating if itâs allowed.
Shouldn't be allowed then!!
And neither should poles be, under the pain of death!!
@@stephenridd6834you do realise dinosaurs went extinct
Is it only a f1/silvers rig or does it also work for carp
Itâs not really a method for carp it can work sometimes for carp when youâre poking the over shotted rig into the cover but I would go more down the route of fishing fixed rigs for carp.
Which model of matrix rollers are the mate
They're the Double Freeflow Mkii rollers. Here's a link - www.fishmatrix.co.uk/home/product/matrix-freeflow-mkii-double-pole-roller?c=roosts-rollers
Cheers đđŒđđŒ
You asked what type of venues we prefer well I learnt on natural venues but do fish commercials now but still like to get my fix fishing canals and gravel pits for bream and tench it stops me getting bored with just catching Carp
What matrix seat box is that?
Matrix S36 Pro Lime Edition
I like I fish any way that will catch me a good net of fish so tight lines đŁđŁđŁâââââđ
to venues that dont allow it a 28grn method feeder loaded with bait is proberly 32 grm and is a bolt rig , and just overshotting by a no 10 cube to go thro slowly ist allowed dont get it at all
Would you use a overshotted rig if there was bright sunshine and clear water
Yes sometimes the over shotted rig in abit deeper water can be deadly on clear venues but I would also set up some long lash fixed rigs just to cover all bases.
Thankyou
@@kieranmarsdenangling8727 - Eh'up Kieran. Would you say that the no-float rig is even more deadly - and more controversial?
I was brought up fishing Leigh and Newton canal fishing the waggler for silvers back in the 70s and 80s but must admit I do prefer F1 and carp fishing on the commercials now. No bikers and dog crap everywhere. Only fish matches these days
F1s and carp everytime mate
I thought lindholme lakes had a 8 inch lash rule in there open matches ,that would make that over shotted rig hard to fish ?
Theyâve just changed all their rules so thereâs no limit
It's a pity lindholme have changed the 8 inch lash limit, because in my opinion there is a lot more skill to fishing a fixed rigs and more satisfying when you catch on them .
Silvers all year and carp in the warmer months
I grew up fishing estate lakes and rivers no commercials
Definitely silvers on a pleasure session
I canât understand why people complain about this rig but not the method ? Itâs the same principle
Don't mind either but prefer silvers tbh
The strange method banned to me was no water pistols...bizarre.
big carp
Carp and F 1
I donât fish commercials Silver fishing on a river every time!
Talk of woodlands view this rig todayđ€Łđ€Ł
i dont know why its controversial from a fish health point if view everyone is hooked in the top lip , problem is when you allow it it out fishes most other methods so it becomes a one trick pony if you dont do it to a good standard you will get beat up , its just another way of catching fish , nearly all top venues allow it , i think the top boys dont like it because it levels the game up for us normal anglers lol
Silvers.
I don't get it fantastic pleasure but no casters in matches I thought ??
The caster ban has been lifted in matches now
Rivers every time
what are f1.s
A type of carp hybrid
Imagine sitting there all day flicking your pole in the water. Fishing is fu**ked
Is it not an 8inch lash at lindholme đź
Hi Chris,
The rules at lindholme have now changed you can fish most methods and they have also allowed casters again in matches.
Alright if you can afford 30 quids worth of casters .
Don't agree with the way a lot of fishing has gone, same for game or coarse. Stockies and competitions have bred a culture of more and bigger at any cost to the heritage of fishing and the environment. Too many people saying 'anything goes if you enjoy it' which is clearly illogical and a recipe for disrespect to the sport and ecosystem. Sponsors, companies and bait manufacturers obviously keen to encourage this culture, with their vested interests, ending up as a race to the bottom for standards and derision for anyone who questions it, 'ah you're a purist blah blah'. Yep I'm a purist and proud. I'll stick to fishing for our native wild fish with deliberately self-limiting rules, codes of conduct, limited impact and respect for the environment. I will enjoy good days and blank days equally and take nature as it comes.
Drop shotting then .. kinda
Almost
Dude I couldn't understand 90% of what you said.
Rabbits in a hat fishing get on a propper water like a lough erne
F1s should be banned!
Matchmen cheat all the time so what's the difference in that n applying liquids to bait... Just saying.
Tinca's all day long.
