In this episode, Ethan explains why they decided on a Ford v8 engine swap, as well as taking us through some of the engine swap tips and tricks when planning a project car. Transmission choice must be thought about too, so he takes us through the flywheel, pressure plate and clutch disc replacement as well as keys us in on the difference between a flex plate and flywheel.
Updating us on other goings-on to their 1966 Ford truck restoration, Kristin walks us through the paint stripping and body work she’s been up to, using soda blasting for paint removal. Plus, we get to see the wheel and tire upgrade they’ve chosen for the pickup, using Nitto Terra Grappler G2s and getting a little bit of lift as a result.

Ending the episode, catch a brief history of car engines for a simple overview of popular combustion engines from the time of Carl Benz, the Ford Model T, the evolution of the V8 into OHV and OHC engines.

I just bought my dream truck. No not the 2015 f150 in the driveway but an old rusty 66f100. Looking to freshen it up and enjoy it on the weekends.

I need ideas on what V-8 engine/manual combo to put in my 63. It’s all original but the engine in done, needs a full rebuild. But if I’m going to do that, might as well slap in some more HP

We won't mention what Ethan thinks of that, but keep in mind you'll be looking at fabricating motor mount bracketry and more. Good luck!

I have a 66 f100 custom cab short bed with a 240 3 speed column shift and I really want to swap a Chevy 350 th350 in it. I had another ford f100 long bed that I pulled the 352 out and swapped it with a 390 out of a mustang but it was a huge gas hog and I’m really a sbc guy anyway.
