Condensate biofilm. That P trap had likely never been cleaned out.
Condensate biofilm refers to biofilms that form in HVAC systems, particularly in the condensate drain pans and lines. These biofilms are composed of microorganisms that thrive in the moist environment created by the condensation process in cooling and refrigeration systems. The biofilm matrix can include bacteria, fungi, algae, and other microorganisms, which produce a protective slime layer that adheres to surfaces.
Preventing and controlling condensate biofilms involves regular maintenance, such as cleaning and disinfecting drain pans and lines, and using biocides or UV light treatments to inhibit microbial growth. Regular inspections and prompt attention to any signs of biofilm formation can help maintain system efficiency and indoor air quality.
I have a reg customer which I taught to put some vinegar or pan tabs on his P-trap at the air handler every so often for this same problem but he is too lazy to do it, has easy access, for me its easy money.
Good thing my AC drain line runs outside cause I stay in a mobile home. And plus I may consider on getting those drain tables so it can definitely flow freely.
That must be a Texas thing. Where the condensate goes into the sink plumbing. I’ve never seen that before. Good video.
Houston thing for sure especially houses built after 2000's
@@WWHVAC yeah out of all the techs I’m subscribed to you’re the only one where the condensate line empties into the sink plumbing.
@@deanmartin1966main drain goes into sinks emergency runs right outside
I was steady confused seeing the condensation lines on the outside of the house. I live in Pearland and and do keep maintenance on my unit. I'm like the outside line is the emergency one. The condensation line connects to the same sink line in the attic. Ever make it out to Pearland WW HVAC?
@guayo42 Outside my coverage area. I try to stay within a 30-mile radius. Thanks for asking
7:21 Marvin zigler eyewitness move.. miss him he was a cool cat
Lollll.....Marvin Zindler Eyewitness News, but we get you though‼️🎯
Why do all these units not use schedule 40 3/4” pvc? I see it a lot in these videos of you guys down south, is that a thing down there or is the material just cheaper to buy; or industry standard in the south?
Only if people run water for about 60 seconds after using chemicals in the sink will prevent that. Oh well, it's job security.
Have you ever had a call where after you’re done doing maintenance for example coil cleaning that the customer calls back a few hours later saying that the blower is not blowing as hard as it used to?
Asking for a friend😂
That's a tough one. Maybe it's in their head. Or maybe panels are not put back on correctly. I'll make sure it's sealed properly. Did the coil have an access door for cleaning? Weak capacitor? 🤷♂️
@@WWHVAC yeah that’s the thing I never looked at the indoor unit. Just replaced cap and cleaned the condenser coils.
Might be a dirty filter. I’ll find out tomorrow.
Thanks for responding 👍🏾
So you did a maintenance and never even looked at the indoor unit? Come on man!
@@joeshearer1247 nope no cool call
Nasty....On to the next
man that pipe looks like some ones artaries who ate bacon everyday for every meal for 75 years
🤣 😂
You called this a roof leak but I don't see anywhere that the roof is leaking. It's a plumbing problem, not a roofing problem, no? 🤔
What tool bag you use?
