Tang Soo Do doesn't have the same kicking intensity, as it did in mid-90s, 80s, on down.

Its hard to find black belts of this caliber in Tang Soo Do now a days. Most TSD and TKD schools became mcdojos because it brings in more money and pays the rent better.

@@buildwalls2001 thats great to hear! There are only a handful of quality dojo and dojang in my area. The ones that make all the money are textbook mcdojo belt mills. Its hard to run a traditional school when so many parents and students think that what they do at those places is traditional or practical when it's not. Ive traveled a lot too and unfortunately Ive seen more diploma mills than I have quality dojo/dojang. I wish you the best of luck in keeping your high standards alive at your dojang 😊

Well it also depends on the masters/ instructors and how they’re supposed to teach the martial arts or whatever the case may be.
I train at a Taekwondo school actually, but I’m actually also interested in Tang Soo Do, however the master and instructors has to put together a plan and must know how to function a class for the students in order to build the school and bring in more and more students to show things that are practical, They also must show as perfect examples of what it really means to be a black belt, Because there’s alot more to being black belt than how other think what black belts are.
I hope this might help you understand as well,
And I also apologize if some may be hard to understand.

yeah, tkd and tsd got watered down. bottom line is the bills need to be paid: dojang rent, utilities, insurance etc, not to mention they need to make a profit.
you can't make a profit with real high standards. belt testing fees are what a school lives on profit wise. so you have to lower the standards. it's a catch 22. if you have proper high standards then u have kids quitting.....if you lower standards then you aren't doing real tkd anymore.
on the bright side, kukkiwon is trying to reverse this trend through training and certification. all the old masters are grandfathered in, but for a new master to issue kukkiwon rank certificates they need: 4th dan or more, a foreign masters license and examiner license issued by kukkiwon masters in person at the master and examiner training (5 day seminar)
I keep standards high, but in fairness I'm not financially dependant on tkd income whatsoever.

They still do to this day, but it mostly depends on the schools, the masters and how they practice and stuff like that.
Masters/ instructors just lack the mindset of teaching or explaining things about how to perform some techniques and how it’s supposed to function when using your whole body when to kick, block, punch or takedown or something like that.

You don't kick strike or hurt people just because they say something stupid based on their age or their viewpoint if it's that bad you just walk away but if you have been paying attention you would have heard her say you have to have humility and discipline this is very much a part of most martial arts including Tang Soo Do. One of the concepts Tang Soo Do is "Humility" A second is "In fighting choose with sense and honor." There is no honor in a black belt or anybody for that matter beating up an elderly person for saying something stupid.
