  • Just bought a new Lamy Safari ( amzn.to/2BxOYvB ) fountain pen... and not sure what to do? This is the video for you and all fountain pen beginners!
By the way, the Lamy Vista ( amzn.to/2Naiig1 ) is the clear version of the Safari! Aside from the aesthetics, they are the same pen!

Very useful video, I wasn't sure if Lamy worked the same way as other fountain pens and I didn't want to damage my first Lamy, so thank you very much!

Thank you! Not obvious at all for me, I was going to just push the cartridge instead of using the back end to push it.

It definitely wasn’t obvious to me how to get started using the pen, hence, why I watched your video. I did my homework for a long time to figure out which pen to get. I actually settled on the Lamy Lx. I’m so excited to try out my new pen!

I have the medium nib. It’s my first fountain pen. I thought you could make the nib write thin & wide lines like in cartoons or even some demos. It’s stiff to me, unless it’s supposed to be like that?

@@bngr_bngr so I know some people have used epoxy etc to fill the holes, but I would feel uncomfortable walking round with it in my pocket with so much ink ready to rush out

  • @yippee2000

    Help me please... ;-)
So I bought my pen over two years ago, along with a set of ink cartridges. I confess I haven't used the pen much at all, but it DID work for me, initially. So just the other day, after I'd not used the pen in perhaps a full year, I tried using it, and realized that it seemed the ink cartridge currently in there must have dried out....
So I removed it, and put a new cartridge on, taking it from my box of cartridges that is now a little over two years old. The new cartridges that were in the box appear to look fine, and full of ink.
So I put the new cartridge on, and then screwed the top back on. I didn't feel or hear any 'pop' as you suggested but...the top IS screwed on tightly. Shouldn't that be enough to puncture the ink cartridge and get things flowing? It's been ten minutes now and no ink is coming from the pen.
Is there some other trick? How can I know for certain, if the ink cartridge has been punctured or not? Could the problem be with the nib tip itself...some type of blockage there from my not using the pen for so long?
    Thanks!

Only the Lamy LH nib and only occasionally. I just position my hand as best I can to deal with the nib and I use larger size for smoothness

    Step 0 , buy a converter.
