Killers love Interpol so much that they covered this song. It's on CZcams. They did a good job.
I like the fact that you really do appreciate Interpol's music, especially their older stuff. I guess they had to change things up to stay commercially relevant, but they will never be as good as those early days. Four young chaps from New York wearing suits and ties that came out of nowhere strumming the hell out of their guitars. I'll check out The Killers, I'm curious to see the similarities.
My friend introduced me to Interpol a year or two ago and at first I wasn't that keen on me but over time they've grown on me and I love their music
@@kasper7001 I'm really glad you like them. They somehow speak to my heart. I can't explain it but there's something about their music that's very soulful. I think it was the combination of Sam, Paul, Daniel and Carlos. Every single one of them was just as important as the other 3. When Carlos left I think a big part of that formula left with him.

Such a great song. I fell in love with it when I played it in "Guitar Hero : World Tour". It's 2023 now and ofc I sitll love it but I have found many similarities between these lyrics and "The Last of Us" series that kinda just took the world by storm. I was 13 when I played that game, it amazed me it took them this long to make movies or a TV series a decade after the game and all of its story was already out there. People like me don't forget stories like that, and I love that ofc this song IS NOT about The Last of Us but that's the best thing about art. Interpretation, the way songs can still relate to very human stories long after that song was created is beautiful. "We can find new ways of living/ Make playing only logical harm" What Joel says to Ellie is just like this. "You go stabbing/ yourself in/ the neck". Like Anna was prepared to do in the finale. But Ellie, well "She can read/ She can read/ She can read/ She's bad", she's very smart, and she knew when Joel told her about the FireFlies, she would learn the truth, just not from him. She has to seek it out herself
Glad you liked it, mate! A lot of people compared Paul's voice to Ian Curtis of Joy Division when the album was released - as I said last time, just like the music - but I can definitely get the Brandon Flowers vibe too. If memory serves the song is about a couple, and the woman drowns. Or something to that extent. Lines like "I wish I could eat the salt off of your lost faded lips" references the ocean water on her lips, "She can read, she can read, she's bad" I think this regards her being able to read the signs that she shouldn't head into the ocean, but she did regardless and was swept out. "We can cap the old times, make playing only logical harm" - instead of physical harm, which is what happened to her when that day should've just been logical/playing on the beach, etc. Things like that. Next one should be NYC for two reasons: it's a brilliant tune, and you said you wanted chilled. Chill away.
I can see the joy division sound aswell, I do like the chill vibe from some of these tunes

Just checked out The Killers "Mr. Brightside" and yes Brandon sounds an awful lot like Paul or is it the other way around? Needless to say, they're both great. Thanks for pointing this out.
Funnily enough after I said they sounded similar I found out The Killers actually covered "Obstacle 1" live one time

The video cuts out a couple of bars of the song which throws me every time. Hate when they do that. 🙂
Oh yeah now you've mentioned that I've noticed the Spotify version is about 30s longer. I haven't actually watched the YT video since I reacted to it as I always listen on Spotify.
