  • Adding weathering or chipping to your models can be a great way to take them up a notch. Whether it’s an extra finishing touch or a stylistic choice that appears across your entire army, hard-worn gear is super fun to paint - and can be surprisingly easy, too! In this video, Ollie will be showing you just a few ways you can start weathering models from your collection. From simple armour chipping to rust and verdigris, these techniques will work on just about everything.

I find stippling with Ryza Rust over Rhinox Hide then dry brushing with Leadbelcher produces a more realistic rust effect.

I'm relatively new still (6 months almost of daily painting) but rhinox hide is so versatile I love the paint

Necron Dry Compound is also really good for scratches as it's a dry brush type of paint, and super bright silver, and can leave long consistent scratch lines without running as the paint is more or less a rubber texture.

The rust might not be real but the talent certainly is!

looks very nice, I would love to see an video of how that blood mixed with snow is done, I am doing an hive fleet behemoth army that is munching its way trough the snowy areas of macragge, and well I do have one unlucky ultra marine on a hive tyrants base, and I am not happy with the gore effect and I plan to add more unlucky marines to my other tyranids and I want to improve on that gore effect.

Ollie says: It's as simple as just putting Blood for the Blood God on top of Valhallan Blizzard. If you want to, you can then layer more snow on top.
