  • Highlife music was once the definitive music of the English West African region, cutting across Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia and Gambia. Over the decades, the genre has gradually declined in dominance compared to other regional music genres on the continent such as Sokous and Makossa Leaving only a handful of artistes like Flavour in Nigeria and a few others in Ghana on the frontier. What could account for this situation and what does the future hold for the once-popular African music genre which once had notable and legendary artistes like E. T Mensah, Eddy Okonta, Cardinal Rex Jim Lawson, Bobby Benson, Osita Osadebe, Oriental Brothers, Zeal Onyia, Victor Olaiya, Oliver De Coque, Bright Chimezie, Victor Uwaifo, Inyang Nta Henshaw as some of the major stars and proponents .

The Oriental Brothers were also a great highlife band.
