I know Italy a little but only the North around Bolzano and the Dolomites. I went there for skiing every year. Rimini was my grandparents dream destination in the late 50's when Germans could travel for the first time after ww2. My mother was 11 sitting in the back of their VW Beetle travelling 1200 km from Stuttgart to Southern Italy. She told me it was like a trip into paradise. No destroyed houses and enough to eat.
She had the first Spaghetti in her life and believe it or not her first ice cream. Since then Italy remains as a dream destination for millions of Germans until today.
You have to go to Ischia too ..... Many Germans go on vacation, to the spa ..... Angela Merkel too.
