On Monday night, the Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the first on a goal from Carter Verhaeghe off a sharp pass from Evan Rodrigues.
Tied at 1 in the second, Dmitry Kulikov swept away the puck from an empty net - and Sam Reinhart scored on the ensuing rush.
The rest was up to the Florida defense which clamped down on the Edmonton offensive - with the help of some stellar goaltending from Sergei Bobrovsky.

Man today was bittersweet, we knew the losses were inevitable but I didn't think we would lose the likes of Lomberg and OEL, I really hoped to keep them at the very least, Stenlund stung a bit as well, he was solid all around for us I figured he'd be a lock for a new deal here. The Defense is spread pretty thin at the moment, no way Zito is done and that our D will start as is currently. I still see Ekblad being moved and two additional d men being brought in. I hoped for Sean Walker, Ghost, even Zadorov for the right price but hey we'll see what the magician has up his sleeve.

From the top of the mountain to the valley in 24 hours. Today hurt. I can't believe we couldn't retain Stenlund and Lomberg for they money they got elsewhere. Seems rather marginal to me. I hope we can keep Tarasenko at least. With players being signed left and right today, whose left to fill such gaping holes?

I agree, it sucks. But I think Nosek at 775K is supposed to replace Stenlund at 2M and Greer at 850K replacing Lomberg at 2M. Those 2 moves saves 2.375M in cap.
I trust Zito, but personally, I’d rather have Stenlund and Lomberg. But maybe that’s because they just won the cup and I’m invested in all the players. What sucks is how the league pushed the date back so far for cup finals, that it feels like FL, the players got robbed (and us) of really enjoying it. Day after parade and numerous players already gone. Doesn’t feel right.
