- Blu is my alter ego and we're setting out to build our corner of the metaverse, DIY style -- and it's all happenin within our spaceship called Xanadu.
(Translated description) Thanks to the insane power of the Unreal Engine, my 12 year old self (Blu) thinks he can finally live out any adventure he can virtually concoct!
The show kicks off in a few weeks and is all about creating fun story elixirs using the Unreal Engine & various motion capture tech :)

It's pretty much how they did Avatar, the Mandalorian etc - but now your PC is powerful enough to do it in realtime. Cameron actually pioneered a lot of this tech back when it was super expensive -watch the making of documentary for Avatar 'to see more'. (Starship Troopers 'news' reference for the noobs).

Oh you have no idea, the oasis is going to look like child's play compared to the metaverse. It's going to blow everyone away. They already have tech created that is said that we shouldn't really have for the next 50 years, but its been already created. They haven't released it yet because they are waiting to introduce all this tech when the Metaverse is fully presented and available to the general public. And all of this is just a few years down the road.

This stuff it impressive, don't get me wrong, but it isn't nor should it be an escape from the real world. Keep in mind that no matter how advanced it all gets, it will still be tethered to a physical piece of machinery that can and will break down.

Your work is incredible and motivate all of us to use motion capture! We use motion capture in our animation studio too. I heard in a video of you that you could trigger the XSens record from the game engine. Do you have any tips to proceed? How to make the game engine (Unity for us) and XSens Animate Pro communicating? It would be useful for us for the timing of our actor performing.

Thanks Jordan. You can send UDP commands to xsens to trigger recording, etc and I would imagine Unity can send/receive UDP... if it's not built in there's likely a plugin that can do it. xsens has a doc on their UDP commands so it's pretty easy to get going.
@@xanaduBlu You are totally right. I missed the documentation for plugins but everything is inside indeed! UDP is easy for Unity there are a lot of documentation and threads with solutions. Thank you!
Oh by the way, do you still use the MVN Link suit? Have you tried the Awinda one? We are considering buying it to have two mocap suits for more characters interactions in real time. Awinda looks to offer better confort for less precision that's why we consider this one.
@@jordanellapin5655 I haven't tried Awinda but I'd be curious to see just how much links higher hz effects the final result. Thinking out loud, I imagine it would be more important for fast action but maybe not so much for casual talking... though even in casual talk, arm gestures are fast and might benefit? If you end up with both and do a test let me know!

@@jordanellapin5655 How expensive are those things? I built a full mocap suit in 92 for my thesis for about $350 (then $AU) - back then the Polhemus Isotrack(Spelling!?) was $100,000. Invented my own modular EPLD quadrature decoders, print film strips for the edges, cut out LEDs and Phototransistors for the optos... these days you'd just gut a mouse ;-)

I was thinking about doing something almost just like this. It's a bit different but basically the same thing. What you've built is something I hoping to get over time because I know basically nothing, i was going to start with the facial motion capture and built up from there. Yours seems to be more fun, my iteration had a more serious tone, political/reactionary/fun, orientated more towards live streaming rather then a show. Yours is so good it almost makes me not even want to bother. I've seen your baby stuff, I hope this works out well for you.

Thanks Vincent! This could playback in realtime as is, with slightly dialed down render settings. I pump them up a bit for the final render which outputs around 2-5 fps.
For the blendshapes, there's 51 based on the ARKit SDK
he didnt sculpt the blendshapes, looks like its using the cameras in the iphone to capture the facial features and he is making the various expressions
