@@immigratewithammy I have an out of topic request. I am struggling to find a self catering aapartment .or July and possibly August in Portugal near the beach. I understand it's tourist season but maybe a local like can help. I've looked on Facebook groups and Idealista, only rooms on Facebook and no reply on Idealista. I found one in Santa Cruz but it's too far out andi would need a car to Madera. My budget per month is € 650 maximum €700 Madera, Abufeira or Lisbon or anywhere similar you might suggest.

I'm afraid the 300 days of sunshine isn't enough to make the Portuguese a happy go lucky people. I think that's becoming a myth.
Portuguese love to party and are always ready to put on a festival, but Portugal is also the land of fado and saudade and perpetual misery. I think foreigners perhaps are blinded by looking directly into the Portuguese sun.
