Hi! Thank you as always for the nice videos :)
How would you compare the Artik R vs Fusion Light? Same feeling of comfort and easiness to fly?
And is it a 'big' step up from the Artik 6? Not so much the feeling of überstabil?

      Hello
Thank you for your comment and the questions.
I am happy to try to answer your 3 question to the best of my knowledge.
I currently have 50 flight hours on the ARTIK R. I also flew the ARTIK 6 extensively and also the FUASION light. So I know all three wings.
The FUSION is a very interesting wing - if it had nitinol rods, I would fly it just as much as the ARTIK R. Thanks to the nitinol rods, the ARTIK R is much less sensitive to storage and also very comfortable in its pack size. Since I also run often and would like a small packsack, this is a clear plus point for me.
The FUSION is especially responsive to brake shifting and I like that. It allows for different reactions and allows very tight, but also good flat turns in thermals. The feel of the FUSION is also very good. I have been very happy for more than two years because overall the FUSION allows to fly a very good performance.
The FUSION is unstable on the stabilos, which can cause a certain amount of restlessness, but it is never actually a burden and does not "punch through" e.g. as a side collapse.
Well, that was a clear hymn of praise for the FUSION :-), but I think it's a great wing, but technologically it's still a step outdated for me. I want pack-friendly wings.
The ARTIK 6 had what I called "overstability" for me. You could also say that you simply have too little feeling for the wing on it and as a result you are much more likely to get unexpected flaps or collapses. I didn't think that was cool...Well, the ARTIK R does not have this problem according to my now extensive experience with many longer cross-country flights. You can feel it very well and probably the stability of the canopy is even higher due to the high load on the A-lines. In any case, I think the stability of the ARTIK R is incredibly good, combined with the fact that I've always been able to keep it open, even in really blatant situations and loads. I had two completely harmless slight side collapses.
The handling isn't quite as nice as with the FUSION - I'll admit that openly. But still it does everything I want and even after 8 hours my arms weren't tired. It doesn't have anything like "bite" in any situation, which you can look at as sluggishness or something, but for me it's just extremely well balanced and in the end it allows safe and quite relaxed flying with very good performance in thermals and probably also in gliding.

@@aircontactch Hi! Thanks a lot. I really appreciate the time to give me this very useful response. I have flown both the Artik 6 (30hrs) and the Fusion Light (2hrs..one flight so far) and have enjoyed both. The Artik was easy to fly, easy to pack, etc. It did everything exceptionally well, but I never had that perfect connection with it for some reason. The B/C connection works well, but was also a bit hard for my taste. The Fusion Light feels more smooth, especially on the back risers. A bit of a softer canopy, but that didn't seem to hurt how stable/solid it feels or how performant it is. The debate going to a two-liner EN-C for me all revolves around how much more control one has over the wing, versus the workload and safety they offer compared to their 2.5 or 3 line counterparts. If there is significant added control and connection, you can keep the wing open better and push more on the bar.. as long as the 'penalty' on handling is not a deal-breaker. I guess a few test flights are the best way to find out.
On the coast, we always fly competition wings and the feeling of being on bar and being so connected is just not the same.. it's really gliding versus floating. I really wish to have that same feeling in the mountains without having to fly a hot ship.
One thing I can say: after having a few wings with nitinol rods.. I wonder why this is not the standard on all wings. For packing and packing size, it is much much better!
