Spearmint vs Peppermint 🌿 What is the Difference?

  • Spearmint and Peppermint can look very similar, but the best way to tell them apart is by tasting the leaves. Spearmint is subtle and sweet and about as minty as chewing gum, while peppermint is strong and pungent with lots of menthol.

      He's right.. I was given a small pot of mint plants by my neighbor.. and now I have 6' x 4' in my garden of nothing but mint. I dont have the heart to tear it out because I love the smell and the bees love it. Mint will take over your garden.. the roots are like long vines that connect to each plant that pop up.. so you would have to dig up ALL the roots in order to get rid of it.. A small piece of the root left behind will sprout more mint. Mint can grow in about anything, and everything. I did an experiment growing mint in piles of its own roots.. with no soil and it grew. Its a monster.

      They can be used interchangeably, so try a test batch to know the strength of the menthol and use the rest accordingly. If its dried it could be either one, but the flavor fades more than other dried herbs so its going to be hard to tell.

      Mint seeds are very small, and smaller seeds can be more difficult to grow. Mint spreads so well from roots, that is the preferred method of growing, but you can grow from seed if you know what you are doing. basically just press them into some potting soil or just dust them so they dont get buried too deep, keep them warm and moist and they should sprout.

    1:50 I doubt wasps do pollinate small flowers like mint, their mouth is totally different from bees and butterflies. Wasps better will attack beehive and eat ready honey or some fallen sugary fruits.

      @GiveitaGrow  Před 2 lety

      They can pollinate the flowers just by walking on them.

    Couldn't distinguish spearmint from peppermint . You have shown only spearmint plant & not the peppermint one in your video.
