But she knows Hector fall in loves with her, and that's why she decides to sacrifice herself so Hector can keep going with his life.... But I really wanted to they been a couple.... b) her 'sisters' companions and friends for centuries are dead or gone
      c) everything she built for centuries destroyed
      d) her home and her life in the hands of her sister's killer
      e) had just been called a parasite by her one remaining 'friend.'
      She was grieving and lost and in an existential crisis, her given reasoning was specious at best. Needed help, Hector gave none, and was actually the opposite of help. If you care even a tiny bit about a person (and I think we were supposed to think they did care at least a little), you don't let them make that kind of decision in the middle of so much loss all at once (or at all for that matter).

      @@nathanmorgan3647 Dude she's a vampire. She knows she's a parasite and Hector knows that too. She magically enslaved him so that he could help her and her sisters make cattle out humans. I think "killing" (she's already dead) herself was the most logical and moral thing to do after coming face to face with these facts. Hector just knew that and that there was nothing he could do to change that fact or her decision. I don't think there's love in forcing her to "live" knowing all this. I was under the impression that she fell into a deep and inescapable despair from having everything she held dear to her, everything she relied upon for stability, ripped violently away from her because of Carmillias' blind, insatiable, rage filled ambition. I wonder: Had she known Strigga and Morana were still alive, would she still have killed herself?

      @@ReignSupreme2014 Immediately after the first S4 scene with Hector, she talks with Carmilla and she asks Carmilla why she's so obsessed with taking things, when she can create them, and if taking things will make Carmilla happy. That's why Carmilla goes off the deep end and frightens Lenore.
      Lenore doesn't agree with that philosophy, and wants to hold on to her identity and values. A devolution into what Carmilla became would be catastrophic, hence why she felt caged by her vampiric nature. That's what the writers were trying to portray.
      I honestly didn't really feel it though. Carmilla was driven by hurt, the same hurt that drove Dracula/Hector/Isaac to genocide. It wasn't really vampirism itself, and she's been a vampire for almost 200 years and she's been able to keep her head together. Would have liked to see Lenore actually start devolving before she exited stage left but I get the message.

      @@higginbottoms55 But ironically, now that Carmilla was gone, there would be a place for diplomacy again. With a bit of time and effort and gaining a bit of trust with Isaac, she is actually better positioned now to become an immensely influential figure and force for "good" in the region. And without the influence of some of her sisters, she would be better able to follow her more compassionate nature and tendencies while doing so. She just couldnt see it in her distraught state after just having lost literally everything.
      Had Hector not been a completely worthless ass in this scene, he might have pointed some of that out. But no, instead he basically calls her a parasite to her face instead, reflecting her own worst fears and insecurities about herself and throws them in her face.
      Or he could have at least given her warning, "you know death is not the end and the afterlife is real, right? Everyone and their dog seems to end up in a place called he'll. It isnt a good place Lenore. There is no peace to be found in such a place. You think you are trapped now? Believe me, I am a Forgemaster. I know better than anybody."

Vampires are in fact a parasite, but to point that out so obvious is not bad. She can think Rational or Emotional. She choces to think Emotional and isiolate herself from Hector at that Part. Like Hector did in the mind of Lenore as he cut his ring finger off.
      She could easily see that there is a new dawn for Diplomacy in that reagon. But she refuses to see it like a Diplomat.

    • @nathanmorgan3647
      @nathanmorgan3647 Před 3 lety +8

      @@VirusXAX Oh, I don't blame Hector for wanting to be and then eventually breaking free. Heck, I applaud him for it. It's one of the very few ways he is ever portrayed as having any sort of backbone. I wouldn't even blame him if it turned out he had actually hated Lenore's guts the whole time - but that's not at all the relationship the writers built up, and that's why his (in)action in this scene makes zero sense and, given we were to believe there was some level of friendship between them, is actually quite despicable and unconscionable.
      Lenore was totally making her decision on a completely emotional level, I agree 100% - and further, from what we can tell, did not even try to carry on. While I hold that had she truly been herself at the time, she would not have acted that way or made that decision, it was obvious that she was in a highly emotional state, distraught, had literally just had her entire world come crashing down on her, everyone she ever knew dead or gone, was being held captive in her own home by her sister's killer, and had just been freshly wounded by Hector's words.
      Under all that weight it is understandable that she would be emotional and depressed enough to do something drastic - but again, this is precisely why Hector completely fails her. You just don't let someone you care about even a tiny, tiny bit make that kind of permanent and irrevocable decision when they are in such a state of mind and dealing with so many issues and losses all at once.
      The truth is that at that moment, Lenore was every bit as broken and at rock bottom as Hector had been when they first met. The difference was, for Hector Lenore had extended a hand, even if there might have been an ulterior motive at the time. However, after they supposedly became friends, when the tables were flipped and she was the one at rock bottom, Hector didn't extend even a pinky finger.
      As an aside, I also take a slight issue with the parasite thing. I'd say it's more appropriate to think of Vampires as predators. We don't think of Lions, wolves, or cheetahs as parasites (or ourselves for that matter), so I'm not sure why we should think of Vampires as parasites. Especially given they are self-aware and can make a decision as to what they choose to prey upon. Maybe that's semantics, but I think it hints at a fundamental flaw in how Lenore was coming to view even her vampire nature.
      At any rate, I think the truth is that the writers started out with the agenda of making sure she was completely abandoned at the end and pretty much forced into her death, whether it made sense or not. You can see that agenda in Hector's seemingly indifferent passivity in the scene, but also even in the way Strigga and Morena apparently can't be bothered to spend 5 minutes with their magic mirror to confirm if Lenore is actually dead when they had felt only Carmilla die. This for the friend they had spent 2 centuries with, were close enough to that they could share the rulership of a kingdom and call one another sister, and who knew that Lenore had always been fiercely loyal to a fault to them. Their behavior is every bit as bad and weird and out of character as Hector's. There's really one and only one reason they'd be that way: the writers wanted to snuff Lenore.
      Which is a shame, she was a great character and quite frankly, with Carmilla gone, if forced to choose I think I'd be much more comfortable living in a land ruled by Lenore than one ruled by Isaac, all things considered.
      Anyway, that's how I see it all. :)

    The Sisters of Styria were each of them, one part of a complete Vampire.
    Morana was the mind, the sheer razor of logic and mechanical instinct that gave the others the ability to act. Striga was the arm. She was the full, unfettered might of a supernatural creature that struck fear into the hearts of friend and foe alike. Carmilla was the hunger. The thirst. The ravenous, ceaseless, almost sexual desire that drives a predator to conquer its prey.
    Timeless logic. Threatening power. A cursed bloodlust. Put all those things together and you've almost got yourself one whole vampire, but something is missing...
    ...the perfumed glove that touches your shoulder with the grace of a fallen leaf. The blue-jewel eyes that, in an instant, wash away any pain you've ever felt. The soft skin that presses to your cheek and tastes of wild fruit. The voice that soothes you with a lullaby so sweet that you willingly offer your soul.
    Lenore. The open hand. The gentle word. The slumberous seduction that brings any who stand before it to their knees.

    This is sad... I would like to see a dramatic rescue for example: Hector running towards her, a few seconds before the sun would reach her, he'd grab her and hug her and maybe both of them would just declarate their love 😅❤️

      @Deanna R I get why people simp for Lenore. She keeps that pimp/simp hand strong for a good long while. I had a discussion with a friend who summed her support for their coupling like this: "Seeing as how Vampires look at humans like we do Big Macs. He literally got the best option all things considered". Though I can agree with her on that condition, it doesn't change the fact Lenore is absolutely horrible as a partner. Then again it could be seen as a critique or inversion of the whole "oooo Vampires are sexy" trope, because she is cute. She's got that girl next door soft voice and I can understand how people fall for her, much like how Dracula fans would say "He could do so many bad things to me". Its just this show really did follow through on the price of that phrase and wish.
      She did horrible things. That's what they do. That's the price of the seduction. As a villain or at least a side antagonist, she's good. I like her. Aesthetically I'll admit if she wasn't....her I'd be in the simping army. It's just she was never meant to be this example of a good coupling partner in my opinion.
      As for the ending. It was schadenfreude for me. All that imprisoning she did and the moment her precious liberties were threatened, she decides to take in the sun.
      Good. You coward blood sucker Lenore.

    god so many people misunderstand lenore's reason for killing herself, they think she just didn't want to live in a cage, thinking she's referring to not being able to leave the castle, when the real cage was her vampire nature. she realized she had no meaningful place in this world, she even expressed this feeling to carmilla and hector before saying that there was no more room for diplomacy and therefore no purpose for her. the last conversation she had with hector made her realize how much she despised her existence. some say that hector and lenore got the short end of the stick because all the other couples got their happy ending and while hector was definitely saddened by her death he understood that it was for the best. even though i do think love was there it was built on a toxic relationship, they simply weren't meant to be. i absolutely hate lenore as a person but as a character i adore her. she grew to actually "love" hector enough to know that she wasn't good for him, that was her development.

    • @erwannthietart3602
      @erwannthietart3602 Před 7 měsíci +1

      I neither like or hate Lenore as a person, she was manipulative yes, she was terrible toward Hector yes, but despite the differances in how human and vampires behave and think, she learned, she couldnt fully understand because the differances between human and vampire is too big, but she learned. Learned that what she was is fondamentally wrong, and she couldnt even attempt to change because her very existance means to curse anothers, she wouldnt repent, because what she had done until that point was unforgivable, but its also because she couldnt, she was doomed to become like Carmilla and Dracula at one point in the future and she didnt want that, but it wasnt her decision to make.
      And ironically its another differance between vampires and humans, vampires in the end arent free by default, they are always going to succomb to their urges, they can fight them, but they will falter at one point, humans dont have this same instincts, they are free by default its other factor which steals their freedom not their very existance.
      In the end, without even considering Hector in the reasoning, the closest she could ever get to humanity, to denying herself as a vampire, wasnt in learning how to be humanlike which she couldve learned with Hector, because no matter how hard they try she will remain a vampire and he a human, it was by embracing the one thing both human and vampires shared, true death, and by doing so of her own free will makes her into a vampire who truly embraced what defined a human in comparison to a vampire, mortality and freedom.
      For a Vampire who saw humanity as nothing less than a pet as nothing but food to have fun with. She died as the most human amongst her kind, which is fitting because she learned to hate her very existance as a vampire, and learned that humanity was much more than food or pet, she was just too late and ignorant to see it earlier.
      No matter what she did, her action needs be respected at least, its not everyday one goes against their very existance to choose to be more than it even as a statement

    Liked her a bit. Then the betrayal. Then couldn’t be locked up for just a bit in a damn beautiful castle; after what she did to Hector (Isaac prob, at that time, would have even let her be free eventually)
    Hated her.
    Then…from Season 3 to 4, listened more intently. More immersive. The small details of her life are the key. The curse of being a vampire with her “sisters” gone. The tragedy of her short human life. It’s in the details…I suddenly understood. A lot more.
    And Lenore is a hell of a lot more tragic character than I realized. Hector was the closest thing to *real* love she’d ever known. And wouldn’t be able to share it with him; life. And understanding herself and the vampire plague more. Lenore, was suddenly so…damn bittersweet. And I liked her then. Loved her. This anime was damn amazing

THen Hector, the one thing she seems to have left, pretty much calls her a parasite to her face when she's trying to talk to him... The girl had been hammered and beat down HARD. And if they were supposed to be friends if not lovers at this point, Hector fails her badly sitting there passively while letting her make that kind of irrevocable decision while still being crushed by all these losses.

    • @nathanmorgan3647
      @nathanmorgan3647 Před 3 lety +2

      @@mannydavis8190 No. Lenore's reasoning was extremely flawed and born of deep insecurities within herself and fears of becoming Carmilla. But she ignores the fact that she is nothing at all like Carmilla. Completely different personalities, drives, methods, core motivations. They were not the same people, so it was always kind of silly Lenore feared becoming Carmilla. She did NOT have a consuming quest for more more more. Nor is she the only one. Morana is supposedly well over 1000 years old, and she accepted change. She let go. She adapted. As did Strigga. Even Dracula sort of proves it is possible and vamps are not auto fated like Lenore ( and to my recolection only Lenore) says They have wills of their own, can change and adapt. Heck Lenore herself changes quite a lot during the 2 seasons.
      So no, I know the writers were using that as a sort of BS excuse just to get her to off herself, but it does not really work when they provide multiple examples of it not actually being the case.
      Further, there were no apparent attempts to try diplomacy with Isaac, or to escape, or give things time to settle to see how bad they actually are, or talk Lenore off the ledge, or use the magic mirror to speak with the other sisters, or anything. Plus it is not that long since her world crashed down on her, her sisters died or disappeared (another huge gripe) and she is in the middle of grieving and obviously depressed. Not the time to let anyone, even a 200 year old vampire, committ suicide. Hector completely fails as a friend or even as a human being here frankly.
      And that is one of my big gripes about the scene - it goes against so much of what had been set up before and the writers forced so many characters to be ooc or quasi ooc in order to force the scene, doing everything possible to make sure Lenore would be completely abandoned at the end and forced her to her death.

    Do someone know where to download the original ost? This is a sort of "recorded versio " and there's not the voice of the woman singing.

    How does this not become Oscar worthy? This scene alone is better than half the live action stuff you see on TV and by far the best vampire show that's come to tv in a long while. This music, the writing, the voice acting, all left me in tears here. A moment when you think a vampire would think the sun is the most important thing to see before you die, no. It was seeing Hectors face one last time. This was pure poetry.

    As complex as this character, the relationship they shared was. The Stockholm syndrome hit me hard through this wonder

    The first part sounds so familiar, where is it from? The woman singing?

    Huh, that is a interesting take on the ost, certainly not the same but not bad. Neat.

    I was shocked at how sad this scene made me considering what Lenore did to Hector in the past. But she understood the assignment. She had to parish

    I kept expecting Hector to hold her but I suppose when Lenore told him it's fine he knew she made her decision.
