Love your channel, you are an inspiration to so many people around the world. For people in the USA, the cloth that Dexter mentions at 06:10,, I think we call it quilt batting over here. It is sold as Poly-Fill low loft quilt batting. I use it on all of my outdoor filters, and it works great.

Anyone can now make a simple filtration system and also add some pothos plants in the filter bucket as it will remove the bad bacteria and nitrate that can harm the fish

Glad to see I'm not the only one using polyester batting for filter material. It is so easy to just wash out again and lasts much longer than aquarium filter wool. Wow you guys eat a lot of rice... only about one cup full is used by my family of 3 at meal time. I love the ponds on legs... you could make a double-decker pond on the same footprint for parents and fry.

Hi Mr Dex - where did you buy the ceramics , and what cloth did you use on top ( is this like a foam ) - is the charcoal just plain charcoal or activated charcoal

Actually this Monday, I just breed my danios, using my old aquariums... Sir dexter I have a question.. I have use 7 females and I double the numbers of males, it is okay or I have put to much males. This is my first try to do this method, b4 I use 2 females n 3 males.. The outcomes is OK,.. But this last Monday, maybe 3 out of 7 females have spawn their eggs,..

Carbon in filter requires a bit more research.
1. Carbon removes impurities, bad smell and toxic substances from the water. Carbon cannot be left in the filter for long, long periods, not supposed to be more than 3 to 6 months according to the bio-load. So, the carbon needs to be be removed and replaced from time to time. When the absorptiveness of the carbon is depleted, toxic substances are gradually released back into the water.
2. Carbon does not kill bad bacteria only. Carbon actially stops the growth of ALL bacteria in the filter. Carbon inhibits growth of good bacteria as well as bad bacteria.
