Less commentator, more athlete. I mean, tell us who the athletes are, who's in front, who's chasing. So much Blah blah blah
Also talk about the athletes who are competing. Not the ones from other regions, or in this case the men.
That's what Chase does. He drones on and on and on and he will never give you a break from his wall of monotone nonsense. He assaults you with word vomit til you tap out. I have to watch anything he's doing on mute.

I do not want to see the commentator, they should talk less about other athletes who are not competing, and actually talk about

This is infuriating. Why is Laura horvath competing here and I’m stuck looking at these random commentators who are talking about something completely different?! Production during games season is shocking again already!
Prefer to watch the athletes, and HEAR the commentators… bizarre choice to show them.
This is a highly edited version of what was shown live. It is much better than the live version. I was disappointed that Chase and the lady didn't say anything about where Laura Horvath was till the very end. She is after all the reigning Games Champ.

@@kyucklebeans how is it more money? They just feed it to a livestream. The livestream was only the commentators and the wide shot of the room. They just needed to feed the stream with the moving cams. That doesn’t cost alot but is probably another videoformat.
the chit chat was just nonstop , damn its annoying.. we cant hear the crowd nor the floor Mc esp when the poor video showing the atletes
Love the camera work here, good viewing experience. This is the best non-live viewing experience I've seen from CF imo
This format is totally fine for me. CZcams golfers do this and it works well.
The commentators feel a bit forced on the production

I'd recommend more microphones on the floor to add to the production. I want to hear the athletes grunting,, the judges counting reps, etc.
The copyrighted music is a problem though.
Crossfit Games needs desperately to do something about their commentators. Year after year they are the weakest link in the whole production. I cannot believe that in the course of becoming a world-wide phenomenon, these two nitwits are the best Crossfit can come up with!

Ive always loved Chase, but this is the first time he has seemed uncomfortable. Either he isn't bought in anymore OR he has been given a script he doesn't believe in.

Commentators are not vibing between them….
Incredible athletes, the performance is amazing. But could the commentators talk more specifically about CrossFit and what's happening rather than talking about their own lives? And is it really necessary to see them? We want to see the sport, not the commentators.
Who the f*** wants to see the commentators? What other sport shows the commentators during the event?

Again, a ton of talk, not very much on positiing or just a run through about sports relevated issues. Very american; talk, talk, talk; it is OK to just settle and observe.
Stop showing commentators and tell them to stop with the chit chat. The only thing they should talk about is the event and competitors. Their sidetracked conversations are annoying.

I disagree with people complaining about the commentary. Chase is a good commentator. Maybe we don't need to see them as much but they show commentators in other sports too so I'm fine with showing them a bit during the run portion especially.
Are you a Chase fan? I would LOVE to watch a Chase and Lauren Pre-Event and Post-Event show! However, the event is not about Chase or Lauren - it should be about the athletes. Way too much talking about off-topic stuff. He didn't name the athletes as the event was unfolding.
I'm sorry - that's me trolling I guess. But - I'm trying to rally people to voice their disappointment in NOT calling play-by-play as its happening. Please think about it when you watch - Chase and Lauren are great humans. But the role of a sports commentator is to call the action. Not teach people who logged on to watch the action. Think about Sports Bars who don't play the sound - They have the Closed Caption on. There is NO WAY to watch Crossfit at a Sports Bar with CC on! Chase seems to always be trying to teach us something rather than call out the action. Try it sometime put on the CC and turn down your volume.
These are incredible athletes who deserve to be mentioned. Watch it again. Again its not about hating on Chase or Lauren - its about Broadcast decisions being made to produce the show this way. Every year - same feedback and they don't change it. Check out F1 TV and how they broadcast a race. Super easy to watch F1 at a gym or sports bar

Because we love the sport and want it to improve. TV was free for decades. Free has nothing to do with choices for production quality. All of the small-quality poor choices made in Crossfit ad up to the reason CF isn't taken seriously as a top-level sport. the judging, Race Coverage, Video review systems, not being able to count laps, no-reps, and the list of small mishaps goes on. So when we log on to watch the opening event and they're doing what they always do - even though every year people give the feedback - we get upset. The athletes deserve to be called out through the competition as it unfolds, Respect the athletes - You know 'Play by Play'.
Where is Asia? How to watch? Followed your link but they are doing completly different workouts...?? It's a time difference we Americans can easily watch. Anyone? Any info? Completely confused

Worst coverage. How does it get worse every year?
90% of these comments are from people who definitely don't know how this was produced. The Podcast version commentary was great! Just needed more camera angles. I'm honestly in the middle. I'm nowhere near as upset as some of the media about the livestream and how it was done. I'm a little upset that this particular video is possible but I didn't see it until now. Good News ... This means the coverage for the rest of the weekend will be solid. My milk toast take is why I don't have my own podcast ... what can ya do ...
"Dont know how it was produced"? Why should we care how its produced? We should only care about the outcome of the production. Keeping it simple - the lack of Play by Play - disrespects the athletes by not naming them in their competition. Show disrespect to the Fans who log on to watch and follow the competitions, buy merchandise, pay the CF memberships, and drive the sport forward.
Try this, I go to my favorite sports bar which doesn't play the sound only CC on-screen - You can't watch CrossFit with CC. Chase and the crew talk about non-action topics all the time and the race coverage is terrible. Plus they say blunders like "on the left side..." when there are no athletes left on the screen. I mean, it's simply production 101 at a community college. Its time we all speak up and write letters to CF. Please improve your quality!
Wth they are showing the commentators
It is a shame the commentators are not given easy access notes on the athletes and their histories.
Come on crossfit help them out to look more polished.
Look at the section between 8:00 and 10:00 roughly. There are multiple camera angles and cuts from outside to inside, and we have little or no play-by-play. But we do have Chase storytelling about the life-saving purpose and benefits of Crossfit. When will Crossfit consider itself a professional sporting event and start to produce content like one? I work in community and youth development. I know about the benefits of sports. I coach the benefits of sports. IN ANY OTHER SPORT, NFL, Hockey, Track and Field ETC. do you hear the play by play - ramble-on/story tell about the diet of an athlete, the thoughts and opinions on a workout, or the benefits of playing that sport. NOT in any professional sport. Please Crossfit - listen to your fans

This format is really crap. Looks like Commentators also know it’s crap. Really annoying to listen to. Unfortunately hard to follow on mute so maybe just show the floor and the original sound if it’s so important to cut costs.
