I think it would be important to add strikes to Jiu-Jitsu matches, since Jiu-Jitsu is supposed to be a complete martial art, including strikes. They could be light contact or semi contact (like in Ju-Jitsu fighting system) to make it more accessible for a lot of people. Imagine a competition style with the gi, with light/semi contact strikes, and most takedowns/throws/slams (except for the very dangerous ones), without rounds. It could be a super interesting alternative to MMA where a lot of people could participate.

Slams should absolutely be legal! I have been saying this since the early 2000s. This is one of the main things that takes the "martial" aspect away from sport BJJ. It ends up watering down Jiu-Jitsu as a whole. I tell my guys if you are blue and above and hold something you WILL get slammed and hard.
    100% agreed on all points.

    For realism in fighting.
    "Slam, bam, thank you mam."

    Excellent video, Professor.
I agree with you… Never allow yourself to get picked up in competition, training, or on the street for safety.
The most well intentioned training partner could slip or lose his balance, crippling you for life.
    Not worth it.

I like the rule they use in Judo where if you were able to scoop up someone in the Daki Age, that’s an automatic win.
But I think they should maybe do what they do in folk style wrestling where you have to go down on your knees first.

Or add another rule: if you get picked up, you reset and lose some points. If you get picked a 3rd time, you get de qualified.

GJJ was meant for self defence on hard grounds, tackling someone is overreaction considering there are other ways to just null your oponent. By the other hand, trainning how not to be tacked seems a good idea.

When I wrestled with my brother, if someone picks someone off the ground, that's a win.
    Slams should not be legal.
But if someone picks someone off the ground for 10 seconds, that should be a win.
    For backpack mount, 20 seconds.

Any technique that is legal in Freestyle, Greco or International level Judo should be legal in BJJ competition, but that is usually not the case. Most BJJ orgs have banned slams and arching throws. Banning throws and slams is just another way of watering down BJJ and divorcing it from real world combat.

If they allow flying armbars, then they should allow slams in that instance at least

I agree that slams should be legal, or recognized in some way. Maybe you should not be allowed to go through with the slam but you get points or something for picking the opponent up, not needing to complete the slam. "We" already impose limitations by not allowing strikes to promote movement but ignoring the danger in allowing yourself to be picked up is really a disservice to the art. Unfortunately to many today believe that bjj is not self-defense and like Rickson said: if you don't know self defense basically you don't know jiu jitsu.
Anyhow, love your videos professor. Keep em coming!

Slams are legal if they have a submission locked in under ADCC rules

Why stop at slams? Seriously...in competition, the game? No. If you get picked up then maybe re-start on the ground. These gamers need to remember...it's a game - have fun.
