- Word on the street is some planets are supposed to overlap causing a bunch of natural disasters and total darkness across the entire span of the earth and its core.. Or something like that. Half of that is true, and the other half is made up because I never learnt how to read. Anywhoodles, the only question I have, is it a moon phase that the fish go wild? Fish supposedly like the moon, so maybe they hate eclipses? I ain't got no Idear but boo and I went out for answers.

Since it's a rare event you don't get many chances to try it out over your lifetime. It's just a good reason to go fishing! The first time I did was by coincidence, on Bull Shoals in the 1970's. It wasn't 100% totality but it was enough to make it go pretty dark in the middle of the day. We were fishing docks for bass, and they did turn on pretty hot. So I got it in my head eclipses meant good fishing, and made a point to be out there when the opportunity came along over the years.
The solar eclipse was legit man glad it was a fun time and you caught some fiiiiiiish😊
I saw rain and clouds here in northern Minnesota. Just a normal Monday haha

I can't remember what grade it was, but welders have a lens insert on their hoods that they have to look through in order to see what they're welding, in order to not go blind. Super dark and you can use them to watch the eclipse. I remember for one of the eclipses, my dad brought some those hood inserts home so we could watch the moon go in front of the sun
Shade 12 or above for looking at the eclipse through welding helmet.

Great video and nice catches ! Here in Illinois the eclipse was at 96% . But it was more like when the sun has just barely risen. I was bass fishing at a public park. My only catch on a 5/8 oz. lipless crank was a 4 lb.15oz. Rainbow trout.

@@PigPatrolTV Hi, I have for a long time used tides and Sunrise Sunset moonrise and moonset in my fishing I use it almost as much as the weather. In freshwater. It is obvious to do this in saltwater wher the tides rule everything. But it also works in Freshwater too.
We are about 75 miles west of Dallas and it was around 98% total eclipse here at the house yesterday and we were using our welding helmets watching it happen and it was really weird seeing the clear sky turn that creepy dark gray. We love watching y’all together fish and have fun.
I was in north Florida and the clouds were so thick you couldn't even tell which part of the sky it was happening.

We were the last town in the country to have totality before it went to Canada. We were ice fishing during it. It was amazing
I'm a little late, but i was in the line of 100% totality. It was pretty cool. Fishing during that would've been cool. Had a cookout with the family instead. It was a good time.

I was fishing during the eclipse last October and didn't catch anything until well after it was past. This time I caught my only fish of the day during the local high point, but it was just a dinky blue.
Last eclipse I was crushing 10-20lb channels, but.. I think they were just biting that day.. Lol

I literally was fishing during the eclipse. I fished yesterday from 9am until til 300pm. When the eclipse was going on the wind died and it got cooler. The bass literally turned completely off. I think it affected it negatively.

I never thought to fish during the eclipse. Here in Southern Ontario Canada it went completely dark for four minutes. Our damn solar lights turned on ffs. Fish probably would have gone nuts on lake Erie!

Actually if you were starving and caught that it would put you back in the game. Carp is edible. I had a southern friend that smoked some and it was delicious and I was shocked!

I've had dreams of lifting floorboards on my house and catching fish. The underground spillway is just as awesome, and is welcome in my backyard any day.
I'm in lower Wisconsin. I've had dreams of auguring or spid baring holes in the snow covered yard, and catching fish! Setting tipups in the backyard! O dreams. Lol

Those walleye don't successfully spawn in there according to a DNR biologist I talked to.
I have heard the same thing. There is very few lakes in Nebraska and Iowa that reproduce walleye naturally.
