Grew up in a Syracuse suburb - the town had a fleet of what looked to be school bus yellow painted surplus military 4x4 Autocar diesel dualies - big pusher plow blades with their flat beds containing several large 4x4x4 concrete blocks. During the frequent heavy snow squall, you’d hear the deep diesel roar, along with the changeling of the tire chains and the scaling of the plow on the asphalt road surface
My wife & I were snowed in in Osceola for three days from that storm. At the time we had no tractor nor any snowblowers @ camp & she was pregnant so she could'nt shovel. Every time I got the truck & trailer almost to the point where I could get it out...the plow would come by & make another 6' high bank. Town highway manager finally felt bad & dragged the truck through the bank with an old Trojan payloader.
I'll bet all those old Oshkosh plow's in the beginning had 5x4 transmission's, that and all the lever's with 2 wing's you need to be an octopus to be able to drive one, nice vid of some really great old trucks

Was born in Watertown ny they had some cool plows when I grew up
